Stefanya Melnikova was one of the twenty-seven female orphans trained in the Soviet Union to become the many Black Widows. Like the others, she received a variant of the Super-Soldier Serum, along with other mutagenic drugs.[1]

When the Berlin Wall fell, Melnikova was working undercover in the United States of America. She refused to go back to Moscow to be debriefed, instead remaining in the U.S. under the mock identity Stacy Matheson, an abortion activist. She was eventually murdered because of her connection with the Black Widow program, but another Black Widow, Natalia Romanova, tracked the killers by getting clues from Matheson's death.[1]

Powers

Having received the Russian variant of the Super-Soldier Serum, she had enhanced physical and mental abilities.
