History

After the Cancerverse was corrupted by the Many-Angled Ones and the avatar of Death was slain, Doctor Strange was placed under the service of Lord Marvel alongside his fellow Defenders.

While the Cancerverse began to invade Earth-616, the Defenders encountered the Guardians of the Galaxy, who entered their universe in an attempt to stop the invasion. As short fight between the groups ensued before the Defenders were vaporized by Thanos, who, as an Avatar of Death, was the only one who could truly bring about permanent death.
