Mirror, mirror on the wall... This is simply no fun at all!

Doctor Strange[source]

History

After an accident incapacitated Stephen Strange's hands, with no other medical options, he turned to the Anciant One. Open-minded by ancient mystique and stripped of his arrogance, he spent years learning the teachings of the mystical arts. Stephen became Earth's Sorcerer Supreme and took up residence in New York, where he protects the world from evil magical forces.[1]

Encounter with Dormammu[]

Having been captured by Dormammu and trapped in a mirror, Strange sent out a psychic distress call to Invisible Woman and Human Torch. The duo eventually found Strange, freeing him with the help his instructions. Angered by this, Dormammu confronted the three. Eventually, they were able to defeat Dormammu and banish him to the Dark Dimension.[2]

All-New, All-Different[]

While reading Book of the Vishanti, the Eye of Agamotto alerted Stephen of intruders in the Sanctorum: Dormammu and Mordo. Stephen along with his Dark Dimension ally, Clea, would thwart the two villains' plans, with Stephen sending Mordo back to the Dark Dimension. As he cleaned up the mess in the Sanctorum, he remembered Clea and hoped to meet her again in the future.[3]

Kang's Invasion[]

At the Avengers Mansion during the celebration of Loki's defeat, Strange quietly enjoys the food until a call from Nick Fury comes to interrupt the festivities.

When Kang brought Manhattan to Chronopolis, Stephen and the Sanctorum were taken together. Strange allied with the Avengers and was sent (along with Captain America, Gamora, Groot and Star-Lord) to Medieval England. Halfway through, he was warned by Captain Avalon that the Black Knight was an imposter, which caused Strange to use a spell that revealed who he really was. Alongside the rest of the group, they defeated Enchantress and Nathan. Strange along with Steven and Star-Lord went through a portal that took them to the Hydra Empire. Captain America sends Stephen along with Kamala and Peter to return to the Mansion.

Hoping to restore the Nexus, Doctor Strange follows Spider-Man and She-Hulk to Sanctum Sanctorum to find the right spell. Their research turns out to be unsuccessful because Mordo had just stolen the grimoire so they pursue him into the Dark Dimension where they then fight against the renegade sorcerer. Once Mordo is beaten and the grimoire is recovered, Stephen, along with Captain America, Captain Marvel and Thor, went to Lemuria, but would soon be caught by an Attuma trap and thrown to Sakaar, where they found Hulk being mentally controlled by Red King. After defeating Red King, the group returns to Lemuria, this time with Hulk and Stingray, and successfully takes the Nexus Fragment that was there. They then head toward Egypt, where they are lead into a trap by the pharaoh. The heroes escape the trap with the help of Horus. However, the pharaoh, revealed to be Loki, unleashes the Living Mummy on the heroes with the Nexus Shard. The heroes defeat both of them and gather the last piece of the Nexus.

Now with all the fragments, the heroes opened a portal to bring Knowhere to Chronopolis, however, Kang knew about the heroes' plan and tried to stop it by bringing Ego. Stephen used his magical abilities to stop Ego from reaching Chronopolis and bring Knowhere in its place. After the plan was successfully boarded, with Kang's defenses down, all the heroes in Chronopolis then fight off Kang's armies as Captain America, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, and Star-Lord attack Kang head-on. They manage to defeat Kang, but he rallies and uses the Forever Crystal to render them all unconscious, except Captain America, whom he deems a worthy opponent. After Kang was defeated, being turned into a baby by Ravonna, Stephen was present at the Avengers' victory party talking to Thor.[1]

Trouble in Wakanda[]

While Stephen was in Sanctum, Black Panther and Killmonger ended up falling into the place while fighting. Stephen helped T'Challa in the fight using his reality spells, and informed T'Challa about the attack on Wakanda.[4]

Trivia

  • After breaking his hands, he still practiced neurosurgery. A few surgeries left patients acting like animals.[3]
  • In LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2, Doctor Strange had the Time Stone. It is implied that he no longer has possession of it, since Thanos has her in the same game.
