History

Hawkeye was with Nick Fury at the S.H.I.E.L.D.-run Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S. Facility when the Tesseract was activated inside. It opened a portal from which cut pieces of tentacles emerged, followed by a woman with a sword and a shield. Hawkeye instantly recognized her as the famous Captain Carter, after which Fury told her that World War II had ended in victory almost 70 years ago.

Captain Carter then joined SHIELD and led the S.T.R.I.K.E. team on a rescue effort onto the Lemurian Star when it was being raided by Georges Batroc.
