After being defeated against the Cyclone, Spider-Man returns to the hotel room that he and Joe Robertson booked as Peter Parker. There he gets a call from his Aunt May, who checks in on him. After finishing her phone call with Peter, May and Anna Watson leave to go see a movie. While walking through the city, May happens to see a woman who looks just like Gwen Stacy, the uncanny resemblance causes May to faint in sheer fright.

Back in France, Peter is attacked by the men who are employed by the Cyclone, they subdue Parker and demand that he turns over the money to Cyclone, who has set up shop in the Notre Dame Cathedral. Peter complies, getting the one million dollar ransom and heads towards the meeting place. Shortly after, the three men return to the United States. Upon arriving home, Peter finds Anna Watson waiting for him outside his apartment. Thor Vol 1 193 001

Detailed Summary:
High atop Mount Everest, Balder and Karnilla have summoned the Silver Surfer to come to the aid of Thor who is now battling Durok, a powerful mystical creature created by Loki Laufeyson. The Surfer, after many betrayals from humans is apathetic to Balder's pleas for help, telling the god that he has no interest in the affairs of humans. Balder furiously pleads with the Surfer, telling the Zenn-Lavian that he would give his life to help Thor. Hearing this, Karnilla painfully reminds Balder that his life is sworn to her and her only. This prompts the Surfer to get involved, and when Karnilla is unable to strike the Surfer down, she frees Balder from the rocky confines she is crushing him in. The Surfer uses his Power Cosmic to heal him. Karnilla realizes to her horror what she had almost done and wonders if she would ever be deserving of Balders love.

The Surfer then tells Balder that he has convinced the Surfer to go to Thor's aid and speeds off on his cosmic surf board. Arriving in Washington, D.C., the Surfer finds Thor defending the city from Durok. Durok manages to gain the upper hand however and knocks Thor out with some high voltage wires when their battle takes them into the sewer. Joining the fight, the Surfer commands his board to keep Durok at bay, while he attempts to use his Power Cosmic to revive Thor.

While in Asgard, Loki has a feast with Sif and a legion of his minions, boasting over his coming wedding to Sif and the destruction of Thor. He then realizes that Karnilla and Balder are missing and locates them on Earth. Furious, he teleports them back to Asgard, where he demands to know what they were doing there. When Balder admits that he was attempting to help Thor, Loki punishes Balder by casting a spell that makes his face hideous. After reminding them that he is their master (and mystically creating a statue of himself outside the palace) Loki then decides to be merciful and changes Balder's face back to normal.

Back on Earth, the Surfer uses his Power Cosmic to it's fullest potential in order to revive Thor from the brink of death. The Silver Surfer then tells Thor to attend to things in Asgard while he deals with Durok. Thanking the Surfer for his help, Thor teleports back to Asgard where he finds that Loki has instructed Heimdall that Thor is not allowed to cross the Bifrost Bridge. This command forces the two to fight each other and the battle ends when Heimdall is accidentally knocked off the Bifrost. When Thor rescues his life, Heimdall tells Thor that he had no choice but to follow Loki's orders and allows Thor to pass.

At the gates of Asgard, Thor finds a trio of Storm Giants there to stop Thor from passing through. While back on Earth, the Surfer continues his fight against Durok. Their battle takes them out front of the Washington Monument where the Surfer is over-powered by Durok's mystical bolts. Durok then shatters the Surfer's board, before departing and continuing his rampage. When the Silver Surfer revives, he uses his Power Cosmic to rebuild his board and goes after Durok, who is fighting off the National Guard.

Finding that Durok is far too powerful to be stopped, the Surfer knocks the creature on his board and flies beyond the speed of light, breaking through the fabric of time and space. Arriving in a distant future where the human race has exterminated itself, the Surfer leaves Durok behind in a apocalyptic future where he can harm nobody.

While back in present day Asgard, Thor fights off and defeats the three Storm Giants and breaks into the palace where he comes across Sif as she is being fitted in a wedding dress for her forced marriage to Loki. Loki then arrives and blasts Thor out of the palace, separating him from his hammer. With the 60 second limit that would lead to Thor transforming into Donald Blake ticking away, Loki sicks more Storm Giants on his brother, who wait for the transformation to happen so they might destroy the Thunder God once and for all.

Quote1 If They Would Bow To Me As They Do To Thor, I'd Find A Way To Gain Complete Control Over Them! For I Was Born To Be Served--To Give Commands! Quote2
Loki
A ten-year old Thor watches a tournament with Loki when Thor predicts the winner. This incenses Loki as Thor is always right. Loki purposely wagers on the poorer fighter and then casts a spell he learned from the Norn witch women to make the more skillful combatant's quarterstaff shatter when Loki's behind Thor's back. The fighters realize they've been hexed and accost young Loki. Thor demands why do they only address themselves to his brother and they answer that they know Thor would never stoop to such a deed. Nevertheless, Thor insists, I was at Loki's side during the tourney and any punishment meted out ought to be shared by the two of us. Impressed by Thor's nobility, the fighters let the youths go on their way, although with ill forebodings about the destiny of Loki. When they're alone, Thor reveals that he was aware of Loki's trickery and admonishes him that it was foolish of him to interfere in the tournament. But the matter is quickly forgotten by Thor as the two of them take up riding practice and Thor offers to race Loki to the bridge. "Why should I?" Loki responds, "You've got the faster horse." To which Thor replies "The speed of the horse is not the only factor, but also the skill of the rider." Thor stays close to his brother to give him an even chance, but Loki broods darkly over the day's events. He wants the power that will force others to bow and scrape before him as they do before his "beloved" brother, Thor, and he realizes that some day Thor will have to be destroyed.

Marvel Team-Up #4
Plagued by dreams of Morbius and becoming even iller, Peter Parker decides to resume his hunt for Michael Morbius after his latest nightmare rouses his roommate Harry Osborn. Deciding to seek out Hans Jorgenson once more to see if there are any leads, Spider-Man arrives just after Jorgenson is kidnapped by Morbius himself. When he is spotted by the landlady, Spider-Man is blamed for the scientist's kidnapping.

When news of Jorgenson's supposed kidnapping by Spider-Man reaches Charles Xavier, who happens to be an old colleague of Jorgenson, he once more summons his charges, the X-Men. Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Angel and Iceman all answer his summons, however, the Beast refuses to join, having a mission of his own to accomplish. [1] Professor X sends the X-Men out into New York City to track down Spider-Man.

When they find the wall-crawler, a battle ensues, ending with Spider-Man being over-powered by the X-Men and restrained by Marvel Girl. Learning via a psi-probe that Morbius kidnapped Jorgenson, Xavier orders the X-Men to bring the now comatose Spider-Man back to the X-Mansion for further probing and to study Jorgenson's notes.

There, they learn that Spider-Man will soon die due to a toxin used to cure him of four additional arms that he gained during his last encounter with Morbius. They also learn that Jorgenson was working on a cure, which could be utilized by Morbius' blood.

In order to rescue his friend and save Spider-Man, Professor X sends the X-Men out to capture Morbius. After a lengthy battle, the mutant team manages to defeat Morbius and rescue Jorgenson. Afterward, at the X-Mansion, a revived Jorgenson is able to cure Spider-Man, who thanks the X-Men -- including a quick smooch with Jean Grey -- before leaving them to return to New York City.
