History
Early Life[]
T'Challa was the Black Panther, the king and defender of the isolated yet technologically advanced nation of Wakanda, which was rich in Vibranium and situated within the Upper and Lower Kingdoms. Succeeding his father T'Chaka, he ascended to the throne, ruling in conjunction with his sister Princess Shuri and his consort Queen Okoye.[2]

Peace and War[]
Outside Wakanda's walls, a violent annexation was brewing, orchestrated by the outside rulers Khonshu and Ra through their Moon Knight paramilitary forces. T'Challa had visions of an impending war as a result, but it would not come until February, and even when informed of the loss of innocent lives by his spies Faxul and Anon, the resolve of his sister, and the wisdom of both his father and Matron Imala of the Vodu-Khan, he refused to act. It was not until the annual celebration of life, when an infiltrator placed a suicide bomber on T'Challa and T'Chaka's hovering platform, leading to T'Chaka's sacrifice to save his son from the explosion, that the Black Panther declared war on the Moon Knight.[2]
Thirty days later, in March, T'Challa tried to root out the infiltrator, but began to hurt his people in the process. He went to the temple of the Vodu-Khan, met with Matron Imala as consul, and was told of a prophecy involving his possible heir and a woman made of light. Later, the Black Panther, driving the Throne, showed up to aid the Dora Milaje as they battled the Moon Knight on the outskirts of Wakanda. T'Challa then gathered with his allies in the War Room to discuss both the possible identity of the infiltrator and Khonshu and Ra's search for Vibranium mines. Faxul and Anon managed to locate the possible location of Khonshu and Ra, prompting T'Challa to go to the coordinates himself, only to be attacked by Moon Knight soldiers and saved by freedom fighter Storm, whom the Black Panther recognized as the woman of the prophecy.[3]
By April, T'Challa had spent weeks with Storm and her partner Killmonger, surviving with them in the African wilderness. Eventually, he and the freedom fighters came upon a Vibranium-rich temple belonging to an ancient civilization that predated both the Upper and Lower Kingdoms and Wakanda. Beneath its surface, the trio found what Khonshu and Ra were seeking: an elemental power source, Anti-Vibranium.[4]
In May, T'Challa returned to Wakanda in the nick of time to thwart an assassination attempt on Okoye and Shuri, orchestrated by a former Dora Milaje under the control of Khonshu and Ra. Although the Black Panther was able to subdue the assassin, she subsequently disintegrated before she could be taken to the Vodu-Khan for a mental examination. Later, after a heated confrontation with Okoye about his long absence, he instructed her to meet him at the Temple of the Sacred Dead before sunrise. There, he introduced her to his inner Circle of Force, which included himself, Shuri, Storm, and Killmonger.[5]
In June, T'Challa and Shuri conducted research on a piece of Anti-Vibranium recovered from the ancient temple to understand its properties. Using Storm's electrical powers as a kickstarter, the siblings were able to determine its ability to alchemically accelerate the biological development of life. Meeting with Matron Imala, T'Challa was told of the tears of the Gods, a tale that detailed the arrival of Vibranium and its antithetical counterpart on Earth, as well as a prophecy about the possible consequences of T'Challa attempting to harness the power of Vibranium. In his absence, Khonshu and Ra would manage to steal the Anti-Vibranium from Shuri and Storm through a mind-controlled agent.[6]
In July, as Khonshu used the power of Anti-Vibranium to perform miracles across Africa to build an army of zealots to challenge Wakanda, T'Challa had a discussion with Shuri about what to do. Later, when Khonshu's followers attacked a mineral refinery, killing the workers inside, the Black Panther intervened to save them. Face to face with Khonshu, the Black Panther fought back, leading Khonshu to declare that war between them was now inevitable.[7]
War of the Kingdoms[]
In August, the conflict between Wakanda and the Upper and Lower Kingdoms reached a new level of intensity, evolving into a more overt confrontation. T'Challa, accompanied by Killmonger and Storm, engaged in direct combat with Khonshu's zealots, employing tactics designed to incapacitate rather than to kill. Subsequently, T'Challa met with Matron Imala in the Garden of Bast, where they discussed the power of Anti-Vibranium. T'Challa was informed that Vibranium was not merely a metal; it was sentient. Puzzled by this, and recognizing the necessity of attaining a godlike perspective, he requested the assistance of Storm and Killmonger in locating an individual proficient in the mystic arts. Prior to their departure, T'Challa sought their aid in liberating the Moon Knight's captives. Upon their release, he utilized Storm's electrical abilities to release a thunder into the sky, a gesture of defiance directed at Khonshu and Ra.[8]
In September, the Black Panther once again engaged an opposing army of Khonshu's zealots in an open field battle. During this battle, the Black Panther sustained a stab wound to the thigh from an Anti-Vibranium blade. Days later, T'Challa awoke from a vision to discover that he was now connected to Vibranium, able to hear it and command it to do as he wished.[9]
In October, T'Challa infiltrated a gathering to hear a speech by Khonshu. Upon realizing that he had transformed the conflict into a holy war, T'Challa was persuaded by the Vibranium in his Panther suit to strike him in front of everyone. However, Shuri's words prevented him from doing so.[10]Attributes
