History
Exploring some underground ruins, Oscorp agent Takemoto Tatsuya came across a black katana. Drawing it, he was engulfed in viscous black ooze and transformed into an oni-like monstrous samurai, slaughtering his colleagues in the thrall of the cursed sword's rage and bloodlust.
Waking up from the nightmare aboard a train, Takemoto was scolded by his comrade Marion for falling asleep when they needed to be alert - crossing districts was illegal. Takemoto said he was glad to be leaving the city for somewhere safer, though Marion said that in all her travels she hasn't found anywhere truly safe. Takemoto asked where she was taking the people they're escorting, and Marion said she was helping them escape tyranny to find a better life since they're not able to fight. Marion expressed envy of what Takemoto could do when he unleashed the dark sword's power, but Takemoto lamented that he could not control it.
In the passenger car, the Oscorp supersoldier codenamed the Scorpion throttled one of the civilians. As Marion entered the car to investigate, the Scorpion threw his hostage at her and demanded to know where Takemoto was. As he prepared to impale Marion's head with his tail, Takemoto unleashed the power of his sword and attacked, transformed into a dark entity in samurai armor with spider emblems on the chest and back. The Scorpion restrained Takemoto with his prehensile tail, and Takemoto felt the sword's bloodlust taking over and regretted having thought he could control it. As he sprouted a fanged maw, Marion shot the Scorpion, incapacitating him, and Takemoto tamped down the cursed sword's bloodlust and threw the Scorpion off the train.
Takemoto tried to warn of an incoming attack from the Oscorp agent codenamed the Vulture, but was too late. The Vulture bombed the train, derailing the freight car, and Takemoto decided to separate it from the rest of the train before they reached the tunnels. As the Vulture prepared to destroy the rest of the train, Takemoto strained to decouple the freight car only to be grabbed from behind by the Scorpion. Giving in to the blade's bloodlust, Takemoto sprouted a fanged maw and decoupled the car just as the Vulture fired a missile at it, killing the Scorpion in the process. The train escaped the explosion, and emerging from the flaming wreckage determined to find a way to control the sword's dark power and use it for good, Takemoto decided to seek answers at Oscorp.
Weeks later, Takemoto was startled when a portal opened near him and Agent Venom came out of it. Saying she was not here to fight, Agent Venom warned him that they and all others like them were in danger and that she was putting together a team to stop a dire threat to the Multiverse. Marveling that she was in sync with her symbiote, Takemoto agreed to join her when she offered to teach him how to control his, feeling compelled to trust her and hoping to learn more about his symbiote in the process.[1] Unfortunately, the mission did not end well for him as he was easily killed by the apotheosized Carnage.[2]Paraphernalia
