History
Tala, a resident of the planet of Sakaar, was a Haarg, a descendant of the human gamma mutate Amadeus Cho. She and her brother Balo were forced to go into hiding when the Grand Priestess Venkiera began wiping out the Haarg, blaming them for the trouble plaguing Sakaar. One day, Venkiera's men captured Balo, forcing Tala to ask their grandfather Amadeus Cho for help. Cho agreed, and Tala and he discovered that Balo was one of many Haarg children captured by Venkiera. Tala and Cho were forced to flee when they were attacked by Venkiera's Sentinels.[1]
Tala and Cho later staged a rescue mission with help from Korg and Jen Walters. Balo and the other Haarg children were freed, but then Venkiera revealed that the children were actually bait to lure Cho from hiding so he would bring her the Hulk so Venkiera could use his gamma energy to power a doomsday weapon to wipe from the Haarg from Sakaar by destroying the planet. The Hulk wasn't there, so, Venkiera used Jen Walters as a substitute.[2]
After Jen was rescued by Cho, Tala and the others helped civilians evacuate to Sky City. Tala wanted to use her gamma energy to help Sky City fly to safety, but Cho had rigged the machine to where she couldn't use it so he could use it instead to make up for his past mistakes. The city would only be able to stay afloat for a few hours, so, Tala convinced everyone to reach out to Banner. After arriving at Banner's home, they were able to convince Banner to rescue Sakaar.[3]
Using his intelligence, Cho located Venkiera's doomsday machine, and Banner destroyed it. However, the machine's true function was to stop the spinning of Sakaar's molten core, leaving the planet vulnerable to cosmic rays that the core's magnetic field fended off as part of Venkiera's insane plan to cleanse Sakaar by killing everyone, including herself. Tala, Cho, and Walters fended off the cosmic rays long enough for Banner to jump-start the core's spin by striking it. With Sakaar saved, everyone began making peace.[4]
