A giant octopus begins menacing a sea port in the Soviet Union. They ask an American scientist for help and, using a Geiger counter, he realizes that Monstro is merely an ordinary octopus that gained great size due to secret atomic weapons testing of the Reds that will wear off during the next 24 hour period.

Synopsis for "I am the Changing Man!"
A shape-shifter arrives on Earth to sow disarray in preparation for an alien invasion. He is caught when he attempts to flee authorities and glances at a poster featuring a man and a dog. He decides to turn into the dog thinking that no one will suspect him, but is immediately apprehended. When he looks at the poster again and reads the text underneath the picture, he realizes why he made a mistake. The dog had been shot into space and so could not be on the planet at the present moment.

Synopsis for "The Runaway Planet!"
Ludwig Hauptmann is disbelieved by his students about the theory the universe is a place of order and purpose. When a seemingly runaway planet is determined to crash on earth everyone thinks humanity is doomed, except Hauptmann. The old professor's belief's are proven correct when the "planet" is revealed to be a spaceship with a message welcoming earth to the Community of Planets. With that Hauptmann ends up gaining the respect of his students.

Synopsis for "It Walks By Night!"
In the future of 1999 all robots are considered illegal and banned. A scientist refuses to be constrained by the law and so builds and advanced robot on secret to prove his point. However he's spotted by some locals who call the police, the cops destroy the robot and chase the man to a ravine where he falls from. The story ends revealing the scientist survived, because he's himself a robot and will appear in the next issue.
