Harasar found the reference in the 198 files saying: "Mercator is extremely powerful, even by the standards of Omega-Level mutants." He reads that to say Mercator was an Omega-Level mutant. Personally I read that as saying "He is extremely powerful compared to Omega-Level mutants". Also, in X-Men: The 198 #2, Val Cooper says "Mr. M appears to have almost unlimited transmutational powers. he can alter the molecular structure of everything around him. Which makes him potentially very dangerous... all the indications are that he is an Omega-Level mutant." The powers she describes certainly sound like Omega, but what she says in the end I read meaning "We think he is, but there's no certainty", which is how it is in the article as of now. Any other thoughts on this?--edkaufman (talk) 09:17, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

the first quote implies that he is an omega and the the second sounds like a politician saying that he is, but they don't want to commit to a hard answer. (i think they coach you in 'non-answer answers' when you apply for any government job.) - Steranko 07:34, December 21, 2010 (UTC)
I reread X-Men: The 198 #2, after Val's speech, Emma said: "Agree", as I understand it, she agreed that Mercator is an Omega-level mutant. --Harasar 13:33, November 28, 2011 (UTC)
