Omniverse or Multiverse?[]

Al Ewing has clarified on Twitter that he uses the term "Omniverse" as a synonym for the regular Marvel multiverse, so Eternity (Omniverse) should probably be changed to "Eternity (Multiverse)".

This version of Eternity also previously showed up during Jeph Loeb's Abraxas Fantastic Four storyline, and in J.M. DeMatteis' and Keith Giffen's 2005 Defenders miniseries. Antvasima (talk) 09:15, January 7, 2017 (UTC)

Completely agree with the renaming and y'all can find further discussion here concerning Al Ewing's replies to both The Many-Angled One and myself regarding Eternity's designation, "Earth-0" from Thor #162 in the Sixth Infinity, and Earth-TRN566 being from an iteration of the Multiverse from the Fifth Cosmos or earlier not the Sixth Infinity. -- Annabell (talk) 10:28, January 7, 2017 (UTC)
Yes, there are many instances of where Eternity was treated as the Embodiment of the Multiverse.
For instance, it has been called Multi-Eternity during the Abraxas storyline, and Peter David's Captain Marvel run stated that Eternity is the Multiverse, furthermore, during Guardians of the Galaxy #47, Eternity stated that he is made of infinite manifestations formed from the interpretations of beings across the Multiverse. Continuing, during J.M. DeMatteis' Defenders, Eternity was showed to contain infinite worlds, dimensions and universes as a fraction of itself. Finally, during Doctor Strange's The Eternity Saga, Eternity showed that his hand contained numerous universes.

Thanks Matthew. Nice of you to help. Antvasima (talk) 10:42, February 11, 2017 (UTC)
I feel like it shouldn't by virtue of the fact that, though it ostensibly contains our universe, it's still distinct the DC multiverse. Without clarification on that relationship, Eternity is just a set of universes within the omniverse. Argentarachnids (talk) 15:48, March 11, 2019 (UTC)Argentarachnids

First appearance[]

How is it known that the Multiversal Eternity appeared only in Fantastic Four Annual #2001? I'm reading Defenders #92 and the Eternity could be the multiversal one as well. Undoniel (talk) 16:46, February 19, 2018 (UTC)

I think it's first appearance as it's listed here is meant to be a placeholder rather than its true first appearance (the Draugr page had one too some time ago), so I see no problem in changing it if the character appeared before that.
