I disagree with the decision to create second versions of Sir Steel, Silver Squire, and Crimson Cavalier. Unless I missed something, this was done only because All-New Invaders #12 used different real names for these characters than those used in a previous Handbook. Instead of assuming there are two versions of each character, I think the Handbook names should just be referred to as aliases.
There is no indication from All-New Invaders #12 (the largest source of information about Freedom's Five to date) that these men ever replaced previous heroes or were replaced by other heroes. That issue discusses how Batroc was active as the Cavalier before the war and continued to operate as the Cavalier after the war. (In Avengers Spotlight #22, the Swordsman's father merely ASSUMES the Cavalier was his ancestor, and named DuQuesne.) Similarly, this Sir Steel received the armor and later died, with no talk about a second Sir Steel.
There is precedent for assuming these were aliases -- the first OHOTMU called the Squadron Supreme's Whizzer and Power Princess "Hiram Arnold" and "Claire DeBussey". Hiram Arnold is currently listed as an alias of Stanley Stewart instead of as his predecessor, and Claire DeBussey was later revealed in-canon as an alias of Zarda.
