Earth-1048 Connection[]

I'm going to write this down for future reference. This game has no established connection to Marvel's Spider-Man and its universe Earth-1048. Marvel Games creative director Bill Rosemann has refrained to comment about a possible connection (here). As for both games' merchandise, the "Gamerverse" is a sub-brand used to promote products and collectibles inspired by all Marvel gaming output. There have been products and collectibles based on Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, Marvel Contest of Champions, Marvel Future Fight, and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series under the Gamerverse label, not only Marvel's Spider-Man and Marvel's Avengers.

Furthermore, the one character that appears in both games (Taskmaster) is depicted in two completely different ways in each adaptation. They don't even share the same voice actor. There is also the fact that the cover for Marvel's Avengers: Iron Man #1 depicts an Avengers Tower that looks different from the Avengers Tower that shows up in Marvel's Spider-Man. It is also worth mentioning that the Avengers game relies on a time-skip and a pseudo-dystopian scenario that involves A.I.M. taking control and outlawing superhumans, which so far clashes with the worldbuilding from the Spider-Man game.

To add more solidification that they're meant to be separate, there is this interview with the Marvel Games VP Bill Rosemann: "Currently, our plan is to keep each game set in its own Marvel universe."
If the the games being made by different developers, and published by different publishers, wasn't enough to clarify that they aren't connected, then hopefully the words from one of the top heads of the gaming division of Marvel should be enough. And if not, then I don't know what will.
