Name seems suggested by fictional poisoner (edit) Beatrice Rappaccini from the (edit) Hawthorne short story Rappaccini's Daughter. Eschiss1 (talk) 20:38, August 10, 2019 (UTC) (edit: the short story is set in Padua, Italy. I wrote "Maria Rappaccini mistakenly, but there is an opera "Maria Rappaccini di Nathaniel Hawthorne" based on this short story. More recently, the opera "The Poisoned Kiss" by the British composer Ralph Vaughan Williams also the same source, and I believe at least one movie has as well... it's not a wholly obscure tale, so between that fact and the Padua setting in common with this villainess, it could actually be the (intentional) source- who knows...) (The Wikipedia entry for Rappaccini's Daughter states as fact that Monica Rappaccini is named after the Hawthorne tale. However, the "citation needed" tag suggests that this is an unsourced claim...)
