Tanaka was interviewed by Ben Urich asking him if he knew that within his congregation there were superhumans, but Tanaka gave him no affirmative answer. Indeed he turned out to be at the head of the Hand and tortured Ben psychically to force him to reveal everything he had discovered to then. Failing in the aim, Tanaka unleashed the ninja of the Hand who killed Urich.[1]
