Intrigued by the birthplace of Galactus, the Collector commissioned the greatest worldsmiths to create a perfect recreation of Taa, down to the smallest detail. The world was then shrunken down and put on display at his collection. Knowing that Galactus would show an interest in it, the Collector implemented a failsafe that would instantly destroy the planet is Galactus ever attempted to take it.
Galactus empowered Gambit and ordered him to steal the planet in his stead. Gambit arrived at an opening of Collector's private gallery, but Tivan was already expecting him. Aware of who Remy was and what his master wanted, the Collector taunted him with the prize, confident in his precautions. However, Gambit used a combination of his mutant powers and Power Cosmic abilities to locate and disable all of Collector's defenses, while also siphoning all of his kinetic energy, thus leaving him unable to act.
Galactus himself then showed up, and the Collector pleaded him for mercy, claiming that his deeds were merely a playful gesture. Galactus banished the immortal Elder of the Universe to spend eternity on the artificial dead world that he had created.[1]
