Tavin Tierney was a deranged professor at M.I.T. who was ratted on by Paul Douek to the faculty. After being fired, Professor Tierney attacked the institute with a giant robot named Straggon in retaliation. He was stopped by Cyclops, who happened to be at the scene. When Cyclops blasted Tierney's helmet off his head, the robot stopped functioning. Afterwards, Tierney was apprehended by the authorities.
Professor Tierney thirteen years earlier
Profressor Tierney was imprisoned for thirteen years at the Lancaster Maximum Security Correctional. When he returned to his home, he found a note with Douek's current home address, left behind by Cyclops' time-travelling son, Cable, as part of a test to assess his father. Tierney raided Douek's home with an army of robots, and Douek attempted to confront him to ensure his family's safety. Tierney was once again stopped by Cyclops was he did in the past, by blasting the robot-controlling helmet off his head, shutting down the machines.[1]
