History

The temple's exterior
A massive ancient temple to the dark elder god Chthon, located on a hidden island in the Timor Sea. Constructed using eldritch architecture, the temple radiated an aura of menace and evil that struck fear into most beings, particularly those attuned to the supernatural.[2] The temple's walls, archways, and pillars were decorated with bas-reliefs and engravings depicting dark elder gods, Great Old Ones, and other nightmarish entities. In the lowest depths of the temple, past an arrangement of Escherian staircases, was an alter where the Broodlings of Chthon conducted rituals intended to summon their master to Earth.[3]
The temple was destroyed when Carnage turned its lower depths into an interstice between Earth and K'lay, temporarily unleashing Chthon.[4]

Having completed the Darkhold by obtaining the Parchment of Power, Lilith used it to manifest the Temple of Chthon at the Wundagore Mountain in Transia. Numerous green portals opened in the sky with balls of green energy pouring out of each. The news media reported on the Temple's unexpected appearance in Transia.[5]
