History

Temüjin was born in 1167 AD in a small Mongol tribe. When he was 13 years old, he succeeded his father as the tribe leader. He led his tribe against two neighboring tribes and obtained the title of The Great Khan, later changing his name to Genghis Khan. In ten years, he unified all the Mongol tribes under his command, and in 1223 he commanded an empire from Iran to Korea.

As Khan, Temujin based the legitimacy of his power on a mandate from Tengri, the supreme skyfather of the Tenger (the Mongolian gods); however, it is unrevealed if the Tenger played any direct role in Temujin's military success. Temujin crafted a talisman known as the "Spirit Banner of Genghis Khan" by weaving the hair of his most loyal horse and tying it below the blade of his spear; this Spirit Banner was thought to harness Tengri's power and channel it into Temujin.[5][6]

During his attempts to conquer China, he sought to obtain the Crown of Confucius that would make him absolute ruler of China. This attempt was thwarted by 1940s time traveler Tommy Tyme who tossed the crown down a supposedly bottomless pit before returning to his own time.[7]

Being killed by Iron Fist

Death[]

Around 1227 AD, Genghis Khan and his army attacked a small village within range of K'un-Lun. Bei-Ming Tian, bearer of the mystical mantle of Iron Fist, confronted the invaders[3] and slew Genghis Khan in battle.[4]

Khan's soul ended up in Hell. Alex Wilder, hoping to escape the hellish realm, met with Khan, Al Capone, and Sun Tzu in hopes of finding a way to escape.[8]

Legacy[]

Following Genghis Khan's death, a secret society steeped in advanced science and sorcery emerged that regarded itself as a perpetuation of Khan's Mongolian Empire. In each era, this society selected the most worthy descendant of Genghis Khan to serve as their new leader. Their most sacred talisman is the Spirit Banner of Genghis Khan, and only a true Khan can pluck the Spirit Banner from its flaming resting place, confirming his/her worthiness as their new leader. As the years passed, this secret society came to be known as the Atlas Foundation, and former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jimmy Woo currently serves as its leader.[5]
