Synopsis for "No Place To Hide"
The Gunhawk was preparing breakfast at his camp when he was suddenly ambushed by a man trying to steal his horse. As the man tries to ride away on Blaze, the Gunhawk commanded his horse to buck him off. Noticing that the young man is in distress, he asked what was happening. The man introduced himself as Sim Cannon from Thunderhead. He explained that he has been on the run from the law and was looking for a horse to escape to Mexico. He also said that he didn’t understand why he was wanted, but what truly terrified him was nearly being caught by a lynch mob.
The Gunhawk instructed Sim to stay put while he headed into Thunderhead to sort things out. During his investigation, he discovers that the sheriff had accused Sim Cannon of crimes committed by his own son, who closely resembles Cannon. The Gunhawk learned this as the sheriff was writing a confession, his guilt overwhelming him. When confronted by his son, they engaged in a gunfight, fatally wounding each other. Although the sheriff and his son were dead, the Gunhawk possessed evidence that would clear Sim Cannon’s name.

When the government decided to bring a rail line through the town of Caliber City, the local ranchers became upset that the plans would place the track through their land. The owner of a pony express was stoking this dissent was . When the mailman delivering the announcement about the railroad was murdered and his letters stolen, Lance Temple investigated the crimes as Texas Kid.
He caught up with the killers and recovered the stolen mail. When he went to the railroad’s office to plead on behalf of the local ranchers, he learned that the line had been changed because the original track of the track was incorrect, and the new path wouldn’t affect any of the local ranchers. Riding back to town, the Texas Kid informed the ranchers of this, but the owner of the pony express was furious and attempted to attack the Kid. Texas Kid easily disarmed him and revealed that the killers were his own men, as he wanted to prevent a railroad from going through town for fear it would ruin his pony express business.
Notes
- The third story follows the first railways made in Texas, so it would happen around 1853, when the first railway was done in the state.[1]
