Synopsis
In the wake of the failed attack on Trask, the Underground is divided on what to do for their comrades currently in the Sentinel Services' custody. Polaris wants to lead an assault on the Sentinels before Blink, Dreamer, Lauren and Andy are given over to Dr. Campbell to be turned into Hounds, while Reed and Caitlin want to take a more diplomatic approach. Esme privately tells the Struckers they should go to Agent Turner to find a way to save their kids, using her powers to find Reed's memories of working with him in the past. Not long after the Struckers leave headquarters, Esme tells the Polaris and Eclipse they left to talk to Agent Turner without telling them she gave them the idea. Although the Underground's leadership is appalled by the Struckers' brazenness, they do recognize that if they succeed in getting Agent Turner to move Trask's prisoners that night, then they have an opening to rescue their friends.
Meanwhile, the Struckers arrive at Agent Turner's house, and force him and his wife, Paula, to talk with them about Lauren and Andy. Caitlin, fed up with Reed and Agent Turner endlessly debating the ethics of turning over prisoners to Dr. Campbell, reminds him of how she felt when he showed up to her house with a gun to arrest her kids. After the Struckers leave without convincing Agent Turner to do something about their children, Paula confronts her husband over what he's doing in their daughter's name.
At Trask Industries' laboratory, Dr. Campbell tries to force Andy and Lauren to demonstrate their powers for him. He has the siblings locked in an indestructible, adamantium-lined room with sensors to measure their abilities once they clasp hands. After some time, Dr. Campbell speaks to them through a monitor, and holds Blink and Dreamer hostage until they combine their powers. He kills Dreamer when the Strucker kids hesitate. Horrified by this, Lauren and Andy hold hands before anything can happen to Blink. Their combined powers easily exceed the limits of the sensors. Much to Dr. Campbell's surprise, the Struckers' power is strong enough to almost break through the chamber's adamantium walls.
That night, Agent Turner arrives at Trask's labs with a team to escort Dr. Campbell's prisoners back to Sentinel Services HQ. When the Underground gets wind of the Sentinels' move, they quickly send a team out to his the convoy to rescue the prisoners. While the convoy is held up at the gate, Esme takes out Eclipse with a taser, and puts her own plan into motion. She uses her psychic powers to turn the Sentinel Services against themselves, first by forcing Agent Weeks to turn off the prisoners' collars, and then by forcing the armed agents to shoot themselves. The prisoners escape from the transport bus, reuniting Esme with her identical sisters. Together, the sisters finish off the rest of the Sentinel Services agents, leaving Agent Turner as the only survivor.
Reed and Caitlin take matters into their own hands while the Underground is divided over their next move. Jace is forced to hand something over to Dr. Campbell.Cast
