Synopsis for "X-roads"
Eclipse, Thunderbird, Blink, Polaris, and the Frost sisters escape from the convention center after the failed attack on Dr. Campbell. While the rest want to return to Atlanta, the Frosts convince Lorna to pull off another attack. The sisters take Polaris to a nearby airfield where a Trask Industries' jet waits for Dr. Campbell and the anti-mutant Senator Montez. Marcos, Johnny, and Clarice hurry after Lorna once they realize what she and the Frosts are up to. They find them at the airfield and beg Polaris not to kill the innocent people on Campbell's plane. Lorna, however, chooses to save innocent mutants, and destroys the plane to kill Campbell and Montez.
In Atlanta, Agent Turner and the Sentinel Services have tracked the Struckers' car from the insurance agency where Ellen Strucker works to the Underground's headquarters. Once Agent Turner sees through the building's defenses, the Underground begins a full evacuation. With most of the Underground's leadership still in Charlotte, Reed and Caitlin Strucker step up to lead the evacuation. Reed, the Strucker kids, and a few other mutants with combat training take positions to hold off the Sentinels from getting inside, while Caitlin and the rest dig an escape tunnel through the building's vault. Frustrated by the lack of progress, Agent Turner sends in Hounds to lead the assault, including the two Hounds that took down the way station in Fairburn. While the rest of them hurry through the escape tunnel, Andy and Lauren stay behind to take on the Hounds themselves. They clasp hands, unleash their combined power on the Hounds, and destroy the building.
Agent Turner resigns from the Sentinel Services before the agency's director can pin the blame on him for both the failed attack on the Underground's headquarters and the deaths of Dr. Campbell and Senator Montez. The Underground moves into a way station in Nashville, where Eclipse, Blink, and Thunderbird regroup with the rest. The Underground debate what they should do next, but are interrupted by the sudden arrival of Polaris and one of the Frost sisters. Lorna invites any of them to leave the dying Underground, and join the rebuilt Hellfire Club. Several of the mutants choose to leave with Polaris, including Fade, Sage, and Andy Strucker.
