  • 20th Century Fox announced the April 13, 2018 release date for The New Mutants in April 2017 alongside two other movies, Deadpool 2 and Dark Phoenix,[6] but later pushed back the date for this film to February 22, 2019,[7] later to August 2, 2019,[8] and later again to April 3, 2020.[9]
  • On September 16, 2017, director Josh Boone announced that filming had wrapped for this film.[10]


  • Rosario Dawson, who plays Claire Temple in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was originally reported to be in talks for the role of Dr. Cecilia Reyes.[11]
  • Jon Hamm was originally slated make a brief appearance in The New Mutants as Mister Sinister, but his scene was cut and the role subsequently replaced by Antonio Banderas playing a different villain.[5]
  • Warlock was featured in earlier version of the film's script until Fox deemed the character was too expensive.[5]
