Trivia
- Rosario Dawson, who plays Claire Temple in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was originally reported to be in talks for the role of Dr. Cecilia Reyes.[12]
- Jon Hamm was originally slated to make a brief appearance in the film as Mister Sinister, but his scene was cut, and the role subsequently replaced by Antonio Banderas playing a different villain.[13]
- Said role for Banderas, as Emmanuel da Costa, was planned to be introduced in a post-credit scene setting up a planned sequel, which would've been the second in a planned trilogy of films. Said plans were scrapped, along with the post-credit scene in the final product, due to Disney's acquisition of the X-Men film rights.[14]
- Warlock was featured in early drafts of the film's script, until Fox deemed the character was too expensive.[13]
- According to director Josh Boone, this film was originally planned to be in the same timeline as the film X-Men: Apocalypse, before 20th Century Fox allowed it to be stand-alone.[15]
