History
Threen was one of the Silent Followers of Bardisattva, and had his lips sewn together, his god "taking" his mouth in exchange for enlightenment and clarity of purpose.[1]
Threen was one of the participants of the Crucible, a series of tests to honor the Challi-Mai, the god of the city of Garchall, in Uttara Kuru.[2] Early in the crucible's trial, he allied himself with Yohnic of the Oaks. Attacked by a Kletakar (a giant spider-like creature and one of the Crucible's many obstacles), Yohnic urged Threen to flee for his life as he was himself overpowered by the beast. The pair was joined by Conan of Cimmeria, Naru-Li, and Delian, and joining forces, the Kletakar was slain.[1]
Their first night as a group ended with the death of Yohnic, which led to heavy distrust among the five, but they chose to continue working together, despite the assassin in their midst. Eventually, the group, less Naru-Li, who had been killed by yet another obstacle, made it into the open air and, while Conan fought against Banti, another participant, Threen was killed by Yohnic's killer, Delian.[3]Attributes
Abilities
Threen was seemingly a capable warrior.[1]
Notes
- Jim Zub, who wanted a silent character in the story, did some digging and found "this old continuity thread of a god that mutes its followers and thought that would be fun to use and give a nod to". He stated that when he wrote Conan the Barbarian, he had an "internal continuity [he's] keeping track of and making sure it doesn't contradict other stories as much as [he] can, but it's also built so anyone can get on board at almost any point.", as demonstrated by the background to Threen, a reference to "Savage Sword of Conan #178 from 1990" (written by Chuck Dixon and penciled by Mike Docherty), "but readers don't need to know that to read and enjoy".[4]
