Synopsis for "Distant Rumblings"

In Poznan, Poland, in 1943, a soldier called Citizen V led fighting against Nazis before Baron Heinrich Zemo appeared and shot him. In his private quarters deep in the Amazon, Heinrich finished reminiscing about his encounter with Citizen V to Helmut before the elder Zemo fought rebelling native laborers while the younger Zemo asked Erik Josten why he was completely loyal to him.

After hearing Dr. Leonard Samson talk about professional ethics in Chicago, Karla Sofen made a phone call to a house and told a woman named Joanne who she was about to have lunch with that she couldn't afford for her patient to be cured yet. In Shoshoni, Wyoming, Melissa Gold's schoolmates teased her about her mother having gone to jail but she didn't believe them and ran away to look for her. At Precision Aircraft Parts in Queens, New York, Abner Jenkins was turned down for a promotion and his boss rejected his plans, so he began designing a helmet that would later be used for his Beetle suit. Hallie Takahama and her parents moved to Manhattan's Upper East Side and her parents thought that it would be a great place for her to grow up. At Lower Manhattan, near Union Square, Norbert Ebersol put on his weapons-harness and defeated an amnesiac Namor while he was fighting an elite squad of Hydra tigers before asking them to take him to their leader.

Back in the Amazon, when Helmut told Heinrich that he would have the rebellious native slaves flogged to teach them the price of rebellion without destroying their value as laborers, Heinrich told him that the Poles still had hope, so he choked Citizen V to death in an attempt to crush it, insisting that resistance was about hope. Then, Heinrich executed the rebels while Helmut felt a strange thrill run through him.
