History
The granddaughter of Adrian Toomes, better known as the supervillain Vulture, Tiana Toomes was raised idolizing her grandfather.[1]
When he was sent to jail by Spider-Man, Vulture accepted to be subjected to an experimental treatment by a pharmaceutical company named Terra Hill, hoping it would cure his cancer. It appeared to have good results, but Vulture still found the treatment to be invasive since they wouldn't tell him anything about what they were actually doing. When he was restored to full strength, Tiana and two more accomplices broke him out of jail wearing suits similar to his. Some time later, Tiana and her grandfather pulled a double heist, with each robbing a different location. Tiana, calling herself Starling, saw herself facing the new Spider-Man, Miles Morales, while Adrian faced the old one. In the end, they both got away with what they were looking for.[1]
The material they robbed was all part of ploy to get revenge on Terra Hill: using the nanobots found on Vulture's bloodstream, they began turning people into mindless bird-hybrids whose only goal would be to create more of them. This way, Terra Hill would finally be exposed for their dangerous experiments.[1]
The plan was well underway, with countless people already transformed, when both Spider-Men made Tiana realize that her grandfather didn't care that thousands could end up being killed in the process. After this, she started doubting her allegiance and, despite not wanting to betray her grandfather, secretly helped Miles do what was necessary to revert the effects of the nanobots.[1]
At the end of the day, Terra Hill was still put under scrutiny and thousands of live were saved.[1]Paraphernalia

- In Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales - Wings of Fury, Tiana is described as having afro puffs, suggesting that, much like in the comics, she's afro-american.
