History
The Tidal-Expander was an Atlantean device that made the world's tides grow higher every hour, at a rate too slow for humans to notice. By the time they discovered what was happening, it would be too late to prevent the deluge. Resulting in massive tidal waves that toppled human civilization and killed off most of humanity, leaving the remnants to be enslaved by Attuma. It was destroyed by the Avengers who reversed its function, pulling Attuma's Submarine toward it which ended in an explosion.[2]
