History
This weapon is a portable, hand-held model of the displacer ray machine invented by the Exterminator, capable of displacing the time dimension for the target, making it disappear for as long as the duration adjusted on the displacement dial. Even though he retained the master control, the Exterminator gave these portable rays to the Unholy Three, who used them to break into a nightclub and 'disintegrate' Deborah Harris.[1]
The Unholy Three used the ray guns again to rob a bank, adjusting the dial to break the safe lock. Surprised by Daredevil, they blasted him and Chuck, who tried to stop from fleeing with the loot.[2]
Many years later, the black market network known as Source Control, which dealt with high-grade technology and weapons, made with four of these blasters. During Tony Stark's secret operation to buy out Source Control's catalog, Carl Walker attempted to purchase the blasters off Source Control on his behalf. The Source Control operatives had become suspicious of Walker's activities, and used one of the blasters on him to send him back in time one week. After Carl disappeared in the present, Iron Man swept in and took down the Source Control operatives. He secured the blasters and sent them to the warehouse where he was piling up Source Control's items.[3]
