History

The early life and history of Dum Dum Dugan mirrors that of his Earth-616 counterpart.

Timothy "Dum Dum" Dugan was a soldier who fought in World War II against the Nazis. Dugan was a member of the Howling Commandos, a band of soldiers led by Nick Fury. After Fury was made head of America's new spy agency S.H.I.E.L.D., Dugan joined him as a high ranking operative.[3]

Dugan remained a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. for decades. During the various crises created by the release of the Terrigen Mists into Earth's atmosphere, S.H.I.E.L.D. was one of few organizations trying to keep the world in order. Norman Osborn eventually managed seized control of the United States after uniting various superhumans against the alien Hydra parasites. Suspicious of his motivations, S.H.I.E.L.D. learned that Osborn had in fact created the parasites and used them as a common foe to seize power.[3]

Hydra host

Before S.H.I.E.L.D. could move against him, Osborn unleashed the Hydra on them, destroying their Helicarrier and killing all of them, including Dugan.[3] While Dugan's body was possessed by the Hydra, his soul made its way to the Realm of the Dead. Here, he was re-united with the Howling Commandos, and fought a never-ending war against the Realm's other denizens, believing he was still alive.[1]

The Commandos (along with Dugan) were recruited by the deceased Captain America to lead a counter attack against Death's forces when Kree hero Mar-Vell assembled an army to kill Death and build a paradise in her realm. Following the death of Death, Dugan joined the others in being the first to be accepted into Mar-Vell's Paradise.[2]

He was given a shard of the Cosmic Cube to consume and created his own ideal paradise world to live out eternity. Dugan was pulled out of this reality when Paradise was invaded by the Kree army. Dugan aided in the battle, which ended in the Kree's defeat and Mar-Vell turning over his powers to Reed Richards.[4] [5]
