History
Tityus was the Titan[1] or giant son of Zeus and the mortal Orchomenan princess Elara.
At a vengeful Hera's behest, Tityus attempted to rape Leto (daughter of the Titans Coeus and Phoebe), but was slain by Leto's twins Phoebus Apollo and Artemis.[2]
After his death, as one of Zeus' most hated, he was sent to Tartarus where vultures were to eat his immortal liver day after day, up to the modern era.[1]See Also
