History

Travis Parham was a lieutenant for the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. During one battle, he was injured and left for dead by the rest of his army and discovered by Caleb, a freed slave, and nursed back to health. Instead of leaving to return to battle, he stayed with Caleb and his family for two years helping around the farm. After the end of the war, he left and traveled to the frontier.[1]

Two years later, Travis returned and found Lem and Refus Coulter had claimed Caleb's farm and after killing Rufus, Lem revealed that they and the rest of Regan's Gang had tortured and killed Caleb. Travis killed Lem and set off to find George Reagan. Traveling into town, he learned from the Sheriff that Regan and his gang had fled after killing his own slaves and members of the Union army. The only members left were the four members of the Dragwell family, so Travis and David, the sheriff's nephew traveled to their farm. The pair discovered three of the Dragwells gutted and tortured and the fourth member rose from the dead before bursting into flames.[2]

Travis set off to find Reagen in Wyoming and eventually tracked them down, alongside a mysteriously hooded figure on an undead horse. Between the pair, Reagan's gang were all killed one by one, with the Rider trying to kill Reagan himself and stopping Travis. However, Reagan killed himself before he could do so.[3]

Unbeknownst to them, Reagan made a deal with an unknown entity to return his gang back as seemingly unkillable monsters. Travis tracked them down after they had killed the entirety of Pike's Creek and attempted to warn the next town. The sheriff of this town did not believe him and so Travis ended up at the Saloon and slept with Jenny Sunderland, a local prostitute. The town fell under siege by Reagan and his undead gang and Travis was confronted by the group and they ripped off his arm. They dragged him and everyone else into the town just as the Rider appeared.[4]

The Rider killed nearly all the gang members, but they threatened to kill Travis, forcing the rider to revert back into Caleb. Caleb tried to get Travis to flee but he ignored him and was brought into the demonic plane alongside Caleb and Reagan's gang. Caleb revealed how he was turned and told Travis his soul was damned and it was the quest for vengeance that both of them had sought which brought the pair to this place. Travis was returned to earth and the only survivor of the town, he was discovered by people from another town who brought him back and he went to the saloon to drink and ponder the nature of his experiences.[5]
