History

Twilight's Shadow was the sword obtained from the shadow of Surtur's Twilight Sword, which Kid Loki was able to get it from the Fire Giant by deception with the false promise to deliver Asgard to him, by emerging from the shadow. As it was a trick by Loki, he summoned and released Surtur on Dark Asgard, destroying it before returning to Muspelheim.

While preparing for another war against the Asgardians, Surtur met again with Loki, who stole Twilight's Shadow. Little after, Surtur was attacked by Thor with the legions of Hel. Loki gave Twilight's Shadow to Thor, who merged it with Mjolnir, allowing him to destroy the Twilight Sword and kill Surtur. With Twilight's destruction, its shadow vanished.

Properties

Twilight's Shadow is intrinsically connected to the Twilight Sword, and thus, to Surtur, to the point of him being able to emerge from it. After Twilight's Shadow was combined with Mjolnir, their power was enough to destroy the Twilight Sword and slay the Fire Giant.
