History
Growing up in San Diablo, Reyes lost his parents at a young age, and grew up with nothing but his older brother, Fernando Reyes to look out for one another. Fernando joined up with a team of Wildcatters to drill into drained ore reserves in derelict mines to scrape out the last remaining resources in order to help provide for the two of them, eventually taking a job to dig up an old Roxxon mine. Within the mine, Fernando discovered something at the root of a conspiracy that put him and his crew under fire from Blackguard, a PMC owned by Roxxon. Fearing for their lives, the brothers got in touch with Tarantula, a member of the Heroes for Hire. While Tarantula found out the same conspiracy, she was unable to save Fernando, who was killed under Blackguard's orders by the crime lord Del Fuego.
The young Reyes realized that if he wanted to avenge his brother, he would have to do it himself, and began training himself to master reflexes and shooting skills. He began frequenting the El Gato Negro Roadhouse, a drinking hole used by Del Fuego and his men, where the working girls quickly took pity on him and allowed him to stay. While there, Reyes would obsessively play a light gun arcade machine game for hours at a time, every day returning to beat his previous high score, earning him the nickname The Two-Gun Kid.
Reyes' day would finally come on the day The Black Rider rolled in to town, seeking Del Fuego for information on Blackguard after they utilized his bombs to wipe out his gang and kill his girlfriend. When tensions between Del Fuego's men and the Rider escalated to the point that they drew weapons on each other, The Kid sprang into action, drawing a pair of his own pistols and opening fire into the crowd, quickly dispatching six of the men. The gunfight ended with a three-way standoff outside the bar, with the Rider not wanting Del Fuego dead so he could interrogate him. The Kid proved to have the speediest reflexes and best aim of the three, shooting the Riders' shotgun from his hands and putting a bullet straight through Del Fuego's head, killing him near instantly. The Kid was quick to let the Black Rider know that he already had the information the man had wanted Fuego alive for and the two decided to team up so they could take on Blackguard. [1]
Two-Gun Kid and the Black Rider launched an attack on the Blackguard Compound, charging straight through the front gates, where they teamed up with Texas Ranger Tex Dawson. The group split up, with Dawson and the Rider facing off with the majority of the Blackguard troops and their APCs, while Two-Gun Kid infiltrated the facility itself in an attempt to assassinate the group's leader, Vance. The two ended up at gunpoint, during which Reyes declared that he would ensure that Vance speaks the name of his brother before he kills him. Vance plays off of this, falsely claiming that the Kid's brother was still alive to get him to drop his guard, allowing Vance to fire first, wounding the Kid's shoulder. Outnumbered and injured, and with Vance's guards closing in on him quickly, the Kid was forced to retreating, shooting one of the Blackguard soldier's own flashbang grenades to create a diversion while he leapt out a nearby window, twisting his ankle and leaving him limping across the battlefield. [2]
Kid was quickly protected by the Black Rider, who sacrificed his motorcycle to shield him from reinforcements oncoming fire, and both managed to escape in an APC hijacked by Dawson. The three quickly plowed through the gates of the facility, but ended up losing control of the vehicle and plummeted off the side of a cliff directly into the river below. The two older men checked the Kid over, verifying that his injuries were non-fatal, before shooting out the windows and swimming back to the surface, deciding to head in the direction of the mine that had caused all the trouble. [3]
At the mine, the Kid reunited with Tarantula, and joined forces with an American bounty hunter named Matt Slade. The five gunslingers discovered that the two PMCs fighting for control of San Diablo were both owned by Roxxon, and that the mine, originally believed to be a Vibranium deposit, was actually filled with Fool's Gold and was the basis of an elaborate scam to make billions off loans to hire the PMC forces for control of such a theoretically valuable site. Knowing that their knowledge was the only thing between Roxxon and the small fortune, the Six Guns rigged the mine to explode and baited the PMC forces inside, detonating it and causing the river to breach through and crush their forces, while they escaped on a mining elevator to the surface and claimed a Blackguard helicopter as their own. The Six quickly made their way to the First National Bank at Santa Maria, where Vance intended to cash out, covertly slipping him a note with the name "Fernando Reyes" written on it. In confusion, Vance read the note aloud, prompting the team to reveal itself, with the younger Reyes reminding him that he intended to make sure he said his brother's name before he died. [4]See Also
