History
The Tyler Plantation was the home of Colonel Clayton Tyler of the Confederate Army. Tyler received a head wound at the battle of Shiloh. Retiring back to his great plantation, he was cared for by his young wife, Emily, until he died a few years after. Upon her death, Emily bequeathed the plantation and a considerable sum of money to the church in which she had found solace through many lonely years. In memory of the Tylers, the plantation now serves as a sanatorium for gravely ill patients who are cared for by a member of a religious order.[1]
