Synopsis for 1st story
Lord Khonshu and Lord Ra lead their soldiers in conquering West Africa. Their ruthless annexation is witnessed by Wakadan spies Anon and Faxul in which they soon depart to inform their atrocities to their kingdom.
In the Kingdom of Wakanda, King T'Challa wakes up from a disturbing nightmare. He seeks counsel with his father T'Chaka concerning his dreams that have been plaguing him for some time. T'Chaka postulates that the dreams are a sign that Wakanda's gods are trying to speak to his son and that he is unwilling to listen to them. So T'Chaka advises T’Challa to speak his dreams to the Divine Mother of the Vodu-Khan, Wakanda's religious order. But T'Challa, a skeptic, expresses his wariness of the Vodu-Khan as he saw the order relying their power on superstition and fear. T'Chaka understands his son's concerns and tells him to hide his intention when seeing them.
The Divine Mother, Matron Imala, tells T'Challa that his dreams are a warning by the gods as the Vodu-Khan had sensed in their meditation that their enemies are drawing outside of Wakanda's borders and even some are in their midst. She advises T'Challa to trust no one.
Anon and Faxul delivered their reports to T'Challa, who then plans on sending reconnaissance to learn more about Khonshu and Ra's intentions before considering war against them. This doesn't please his sister Princess Shuri, who argues that they must take action as more people are dying at Khonshu and Ra's hands from their inaction. But Queen Okoye supports T'Challa's proposal as they must be careful since Wakanda's existence still remains unknown to the outside world and its secrecy can be used as a surprise advantage against their enemies, but only once. Regardless, Wakanda is prepared to face their enemies as its army is provided with advanced weapons created by Shuri.
Meanwhile, the army of Khonshu and Ra continued their merciless advance. A village is about to be pillaged by Moon Knight Soldiers, but only to be saved by the warrior known as Killmonger and a weather-controlling being known as the "Wind-Rider".
T'Challa and T'Chaka participate in the annual celebration of life. After T'Challa finish giving a speech to his people, a suicide bomber appears before T'Challa and T'Chaka, and shouts "For Khonshu! For Ra!" T'Chaka quickly pushes his son off the floating platform before the bomber detonates her vest. T'Challa activates his Panther Habit and safely lands on the ground. He then sees the burnt and dead body of his father lying nearby. Left enraged, T'Challa orders his soldiers to call his wife, sister, and the Vodu-Khan that Wakanda is at war against the Moon Knight.
