Synopsis for "While the City Sleeps"
Nick Kent was an F.B.I. agent who discovered a race of "Martians" were secretly infiltrating the Earth by disguising themselves in the bodies of the dead. Nobody believed his story and he brought a camera so he could sneak back onto the ship and take a picture of them. However, he did not realize they returned to Mars every night and the spaceship took off and the Martians discovered him when they all turned back into their normal form due to the dawning of the sun and they killed Nick.

Synopsis for "They Live Alone"
Agnes and her sister Laura were visited by Mr. Cotton from the Welfare Bureau after receiving complaints about the smell and filth of the house. He threatened to call an exterminator on the rats and attempted to kill one himself, one named Caesar, who attacked and bit him back. After he killed the rat, the women were distraught and lead him to their clean cellar where they chained up Mr Cotton and fed him to the rest of the rats.

Synopsis for "The Drop of Blood"
Leo Horne visited a travelling carnival where he was mentally enslaved by the hypnotist Baird. After a year of being Baird's prisoner, he eventually broke free enough to kill Baird and buried him in a field, however this left a permanent blood red mark on his shoulder. He bought a nostrum from Massu, a carnival salesman, who promises that it "will restore the flesh" and when he uses it, it removes the blood stain, but regenerates the body of Baird, who seemingly strangled Leo to death.

Synopsis for "Satan and Sammy Snodgrass"
Satan is intrigued to hear about a man, Sammy Snodgrass, who never turns down a bet and always wins. Determined to possess his soul, he bets Sammy that he will refuse to let Satan grant him a wish. Knowing that by accepting a wish from Satan will render his soul forfeit, but unwilling to turn down a bet, Sammy agrees and lets Satan grand him a wish. He wishes that Satan will never claim his soul. Confused and frustrated, Satan is left to ponder the paradox of the wish.
