Synopsis for "A Voice As Deep As Thunder"

Franklin Richards finds himself a captive of the omnipotent Onslaught. Within the realm of Onslaught, Franklin encounters the catatonic body of Charles Xavier and tries to wake him, hoping they can find his parents together. Franklin explains to the unconscious Xavier how he was tricked by a friend named Charlie and captured by Onslaught. Suddenly, Onslaught appears and tells Franklin that he is needed to conquer the world, though Franklin resists and wishes to go home.

Above New York City, Apocalypse and the Watcher observe the events. Apocalypse is impressed by Xavier's role in the chaos, while the Watcher points out that Onslaught represents a new life form, surpassing both humans and mutants. Nearby, Iceman and the Human Torch attempt to strategize an attack on Onslaught’s citadel but are interrupted by Hawkeye. Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman arrive, with Sue insisting on rescuing their son Franklin despite the danger. Hawkeye and Psylocke help the wounded while the others devise a plan.

Joseph rescues people trapped in the subway, despite their fear and anger towards him. Gambit reassures Joseph about his past actions and their consequences. Meanwhile, Reed Richards works on a theory about Onslaught's power, assisted by Giant-Man and others recovering from Onslaught's previous attack. Iron Man, despite being weakened, insists on building psionic armor to combat Onslaught.

Within Onslaught, Franklin finally wakes Xavier, who reassures him but is interrupted by Onslaught absorbing Franklin’s energy. Xavier vows to destroy Onslaught but is taunted by the creature. Outside, Cyclops, Invisible Woman, and other heroes attack Onslaught. Joseph and Cable combine their powers, enabling Cyclops to blast a hole in Onslaught's armor. Thor then rescues Xavier, but removing Xavier doesn’t stop Onslaught. Instead, Onslaught becomes even more powerful, creating a massive energy dome that engulfs the parts of the Central Park and tosses the heroes aside.

In the midst of the chaos, Invisible Woman struggles to protect her comrades with her force field. She desperately asks Xavier to confirm if Franklin is still alive, but Xavier, now powerless, cannot reassure her.

From their vantage point, Apocalypse and the Watcher agree that Onslaught is a greater threat than ever. When Apocalypse asks Uatu what is to be done, the Watcher projects an image of Cable and says Apocalypse already knows the answer.
