History
Origin[]
The origin of the Unforgiven Dead, and of Suma-Ket, remains a mystery.[6][3] though they were alternatively stated to be undead Atlanteans,[7] a foreign tribe,[2] a race,[3][8] and it was even speculated they might be perhaps originating from Hades.[6] Ket himself was a necromancer and possibly a demon, "the stuff of dark legends come to life".[3]
The Unforgiven Dead were worshipers of the extradimensional demonic Old Ones, and were also known themselves as the Old Ones[3] by men.[9]
5,800 BC[]
Circa 5,800 BC, the Unforgiven Dead were led by Suma-Ket southward to Atlantis in the mid-Atlantic which was under siege by the Faceless Ones. In exchange for his people settling in Atlantis, Suma-Ket used his magic to banish the Faceless Ones. In awe before him, the Atlanteans slew their king Harran (son of Kamuu, founder of Atlantis) and proclaimed Suma-Ket their king.
Suma-Ket's rule soon proved terrible, and when Kalen, grandson of Kamuu, returned, he rallied the Atlanteans against Suma-Ket's forces, and defeated them. However, the Unforgiven Dead could not be destroyed, and were instead banished by the lords of Atlantis to the Grey Waters, a mystical prison described as "not quite death, by certainly not life".[4]See Also
