No prob! But you probably want to take a look at this since I just dicovered this little problem. I just added the credits for Thor v2 057, and there's not enough "template code" for them all. There's 12 different artists and inkers that worked on the book, so they're not all displaying and they're not all being auto-catagorizied. Also, I just noticed that ya'll had a new Template that you're tinkering with Template:Fetch? I think a REALLY good use of this might be to create a template for listing a characters chronological appearances. Have it pull the issue dates of any issues that appear in the Character/Appearances category and then list them in the date order. Later!

Eetmi 11:22, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Yeah...we have only 10 on there now. I will see about putting it to 15. Trying to not slow down the speed of the pages TOO much, but that should not be too much trouble and I know it is needed for the handbooks and stuff as well. Give me a day or so and that should be fixed.
The Template:Fetch thing would be a very good idea. Peteparker (Nathan) is working on this one and I will pass your suggestion over to him. You might also want to note it on that template's talk page as well so that others can comment on it also. If you don't, I will since you brought up an excellent idea. ;) Cheers! --M1shawhan 21:27, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
FYI - Made change to Thor Vol 2 #57. Looks like it is accepting the 12 staff members for both inker and pencilers. Let me know if you see any issues or other changes like this that need to be made. Also, I only changed this to 15 possible members for story 1. Stories 2+ in the comic pages will still limit to 5, at least for now. --M1shawhan 21:53, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Hey, how do I upload better quality covers? I keep trying and it tells me that the name already exists and to pick another one.

Eetmi 00:42, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

Not sure there is an "easy" way to do this at this time. What I would do is tag the one you want deleted with the category 'Category:To Be Deleted' and then either 1) wait for that to be deleted and upload yours in its place, or 2) upload under a different name and just replace each occurrence of the image with your new name. First option will take less work, but make take a longer time, while the second is faster but may take much more labor on your side. --M1shawhan 01:05, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
Hmmm. Did ya'll shut down the option of uploading new versions of the image? Because at the one I'm working on, if you click on the image, there's a link that states "upload a new version of this file" and just overwrites the old one. Just curious.

Eetmi 02:11, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

I think Matt (M1), may have overlooked that little link. I use that all the time to upload a better version of a cover and such. Feel free to do the same!
The problem with 'Chronological' in the past is that the cover dates don't accurately represent the point in time the issue happened for the character. So, even if we do offer a chronological ordering of their appearances, it wouldn't really be accurate, or changeable, because of the possibility of the character being in a flashback. Still working on it though, it might be something we include in the future. Possibly in the 'hide/edit' section of the Character Appearances pages.  :)
Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 16:39, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
WOW! Overlooked because I was really unaware of it! I think I clicked on it once and did not think it would overwrite the other page, just add another image altogether. Made me put my foot in my mouth with that one. Thanks! --M1shawhan 23:20, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
Well that's the thing, I don't see that link at all. Could it possibly be only a main editor/sysop/whatever you call them thing?

2099

Awesome Job on all those 2099 books! Keep up the great work! :)

Thanks! Quick question. What's the page where I customize the buttons that show up just above the editing window? I found it once before, but now I can't remember what it is.

Eetmi 02:42, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

2099

Just a heads up, since you've been working on the 2099 pages. Marvel's starting to collect some of the 2099 books in trade. So far they've solicited Spider-Man and X-Men, obviously starting with their flagship related characters. I'm hoping Doom will get collected soon. I wouldn't hold my breath for a Ravage trade, but stranger things have happened.--Max 04:36, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

I saw the solicit for the X-Men 2099 trade, but I didn't see the Spidey one. Was that last month or something? I figure if they're going to do both Spidey and X-Men, they'll have to do Doom, and probably Ravage since it was one of the flagship books even if it wasn't that great.

Eetmi 04:41, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, that was last month. By doing X-Men 2099, they are actually skipping ahead a bit in the chronology. These books will be great for people like me who missed out the first time around.--Max 05:42, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Nice Job!

Great job on the Identity Disc series. Its so nice to have the major players in there!

Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 05:05, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

No prob. I was really just listing Bullseye appearances from www.chronologyproject.com and when I got to Identity Disc I figured ah screw it, here's the others.  :D

This Weeks Comics

I changed the week (I have to manually and have been forgetting :( ). Is that what you were talking about? I couldn't find anything else and I usually update the list on Mondays for THAT same week's Wed release. That or do you mean the list itself is stuff from Feb? --M1shawhan 16:52, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

the menu on the left, if you put your cursor over Comics, it expands out to show This Months Comics, and it's still showing February.

Eetmi 23:55, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Ah. I had changed my sidebar and was not seeing what you saw. I changed mine back to default and saw that it shows "2009, February". I think this should change tomorrow when it rolls over to March. I'll check it again tomorrow and see if it still says Feb or March. Thanks for the info though. --M1shawhan 00:35, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

X-Men Forever

Thanks for adding those covers and pages for X-Men forever. I have always wondered why that series had never been created on here. I had it on my To Do list, but it was way at the bottom. You've saved me some work!
Artful Dodger 03:06, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

no prob. i've been going through and adding in appearances for characters that i like. also, hope you don't mind me asking, but are you the same artful dodger on that "other site"? i've seen that same name elsewhere.Eetmi 03:50, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
I am not sure what "other site" you mean. If it is the DC wikia site, then yes, because my presence here automatically puts me there.
If it is another site....not sure. More info?

Minor Characters

It's tricky to remember, but you have to put the pagename specifically for the "Real Name". Yeah...we had to set some of it up that way and that's why the template button throws in the PAGENAME deal. I'll have to talk to Peteparker about maybe just removing the Real Name field (it should always be the pagename anyhow from our naming conventions.) I changed this one, so edit it and see what I put. I know what you are thinking and we will have to come up with a plan of sorts to make it easier on editors to remember these "rules" we made. ;) --M1shawhan 02:05, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Also, FYI - if you get a minor character page you are editing and it is not automatically "shown", but instead hidden by the navbar, the real name on the page doesn't match the pagename...again, don't ask why. ;) --M1shawhan 02:05, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
Weird. Anyway I figured, screw it, I'm movin' over. There ultimately is no sense in having a Marvel wiki and a Thor wiki as they'd have the same info, and I can do more good over here. I've got access to literally thousands of comics so I can fill in a lot of gaps and holes, etc. Hopefully I can have some helpful input on the building of this sucker. Eetmi 02:13, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
Sweet! All help is good help. ;)
As for the animal template...good work! I'll tell you it is a little in-depth -- having all the phylum and number of legs, etc...other than that I like it. My only contention with it is that I am not sure we need a full template simply for that. I am wondering if we might combine it into the character, race, or other template. I am just worried that there are not a lot of "animals" that are specific to a comic. I mean, we could put the general appearance of "Bird" in a comic, but there are only a slight few that are specifically named or featured. Make sense? Other than that, I am VERY tempted to put it in the character and minor character templates and have a section for some of those items like "# of legs", and such, to be added into the infobox. I have always thought there should be some special attention made to robots and animals as characters since they don't fit the normal types. --M1shawhan 19:16, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
Well my main reason for creating it was that there are a LOT of animal characters in the Norse mythos - Sleipnir, Hugin, Munin, Geri, Freki, Rattatosk, Toothgnasher, Toothgrinder, et al. In the short time I was using it, I created bios for 45 animals just from the Thor books.

http://mightythor.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Animals

Heh. But like I said, I wanted to check with you and Pete to see if it's something you'd find useful here before I just started creating templates all willy-nilly. And if you do like it, you can modify it a bit, maybe to where it doesn't categorize the kingdom, phylum, etc. except for maybe the species type or something. I just thought it was something neat to have there, and me just being anal.  :D Eetmi 19:27, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

HA! I completely understand. My major in college was Biology, so I know how important Phylum/Genus/Species are. ;) We'll throw the idea around and see how we can integrate it. --M1shawhan 01:57, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Alternate Realities

Hey Eetmi!

It's funny that you ask, Marvel recently published the All-New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe in hardback form, and when they did, in Volumes 2-5, they included a list of all the currently known alternate realities and their numbers. This is great and a pain at the same time, since we'd all have to buy the volumes to look up a number. Then, at the very end of the listings in Volume 5, they include a little snippet of text: " For Updates and the unabridged list, see: http://www.marvunapp.com/master/earthteaz.htm#numbered " so we can actually look at that link for any universes that aren't numbered currently, and they should be there. I also made a little cheat sheet version of that page on our site, at User:Peteparker/Multiverse for quick peaks at universes that haven't been created yet, and their comic references. On both links, Fantastic Four: The End is listed as Earth-71166. I've also been in a little contact with the main writer of the OHOTMU's, and he said if they were missing any from their list, I can tell him and he'll add it! So if you happen to run into any, let me know. :)

Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 03:39, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Oh, and here's a scan of that last page in Volume 5, so you know I'm not just making it all up. :)
Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail)
Suh-weet! Thanks! Eetmi 03:55, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Great Idea!

I'm implementing it now, but you probably won't see much in the categories for a couple days. It usually takes a little bit for the system caches to catch up. Keep an eye out for Category:Cover Image Needed, Category:Character Image Needed, and Category:Team Image Needed in the future! :)

Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 06:13, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Will do! Like I told Matt, I've got access to literally thousands of comics and figured I could do more damage here!  :D

You're quick

I created those Black Knight pages this afternoon and as soon as I got back from work you've already uploaded an image. If I build it they really will come, I guess. Nice work.--Max 03:37, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks! I was talking to Pete and Matt, and was going through all the books that were missing a cover, and those were in there. Eetmi 10:09, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Dude!!

You're still rocking out on those pages! Good job! Wanted to give you a tip real quick...on pages like Category:Black Stars/Appearances, you can substitute a template for the category tag on that page and get more "bang for your buck". For instance on that page, you had put [[Category:Location Appearances]], but you can instead put in {{Location Appearances}} and it will do the same thing, plus other stuff. You can do this for pretty much any of the category pages that you make. Just put in substitutes for the category you would add it to. Ex) Instead of Character Appearances, put {{Character Appearances}}, {{Writers}}, etc... Let me know if you have questions about it, but it may make things easier and give those pages a little something more than just a list with a category look to them. --M1shawhan 01:34, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Kewl! Thanks for the tip! Eetmi 02:30, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
Oooh, almost forgot, I found this site that can really help out for people trying to fill in creator info.

Re: Thor

Thanks for all the work you put into Thor. It's amusing to me that you left off right at the first issue I picked up off the stands back in 1977 'Even An Immortal Can Die!'

Darkseid01 17:27, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Heh, cool. I've basically been just copying info from my site www.immortalthor.net, feel free to do the same Eetmi 21:12, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Non-US comics

Personally, I think we should still have them up. If nothing else, they have new cover art, which is cool. We also have the publisher "Marvel UK" as well as tie-ins with other publishers (non-Marvel related) on the site. I think it is what keeps us a little more "well-rounded" than other sites. ;)

If everything is EXACTLY the same (cover and all) and they are just tagged with the Marvel UK logo, then I think we can setup a redirect. If they have anything else different like cover and such, we have a template for that: Marvel Database: Comic Reprint Template. You can see how to "use" it on X-Men #75's page. Hope this helps. --M1shawhan 22:21, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

G.I. Joe Characters

I notice you'd been adding profiles for G.I. Joe characters. We generally don't cover licensed characters on this site (G.I. Joe, Transformers, Indiana Jones, etc.) that Marvel's published comics for, but usually only if they have a lot of intertwined history with the main Marvel Universe (Rom being the penultimate example). Generally what we do is link to character profiles on other Wikia sites in the Transformers, G.I. Joe instances. There's an easy way to do it, but I honestly suck at remembering the little things like interwiki linking. We DO do pages for the comic issues themselves, but it's often a weird thing to do profiles for characters that may have continued history outside of Marvel-published comics (Rom, on the other hand, has no history outside of Marvel). --GrnMarvl14 22:17, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

Ahhh, that's cool. I was just fartin' around at work today. That and the GI Joe wiki is kind of a mess. Eetmi 22:37, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, just trying to save you some grief over spending a lot of time working on character pages that would likely get deleted (or whatever we've done to the character pages from other properties that we had).
--GrnMarvl14 02:25, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Re: Thor

Hi Eetmi. I thought I'd save you a little time and move your Thor synopsis over here. Thank you for taking the time to write them. Are you planning on writing them for Vol 2 1-50?

It's a nice site. I wish I could find a site like that for characters like Captain America, Spider-Man & Conan.

Darkseid01 16:17, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Synopsis Halp!!!

Not sure if I know what you mean by this. Do you have a page that is looking off? If so, let me know and I'll try to direct you in the right manner. You can reply here...I'll see it ;) --M1shawhan 22:06, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Glad you did, cause I was WAY off in what I was thinking ;) --M1shawhan 00:43, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

GI Joe

Hey Eetmi!

Just wanted to give you a heads up, on G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #1, I changed the characters there to point to our friends at the G.I. Joe Wiki. It's been a long-standing rule of thumb around here that if the characters are no longer owned my Marvel, we don't give them pages here, but point to their pages on other wikis. Just an FYI. The page looks great though! :)

Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 16:10, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Missing Characters!

WOW! I REALLY like the template you have setup there. I am going to integrate it into the Comic template so that you don't have to tag EVERY comic. I'll set it to read any characters, locations, items, and vehicles. If NONE of them are there it will autotag - that way you only have to manually add the template if there are certain sections missing. Cool? Again, I REALLY like it and wanted to get your feedback before I proceed. Let me know. --M1shawhan 03:27, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, I "stole" the idea from the DC wiki and I noticed that there's a lot of comic pages being created lately where nothing is being filled in other than the cover image and maybe the writer. There's a lot of great people working on this site, but it seems almost no one is filling in comic appearances so I thought hopefully it would be more eye catching and get more people's attention. If there's a way to autopopulate it that would be awesome! If you look at the category listings now there's more than 50 books and that's just from June of this year, I think that's far too many very new books to have no appearance listings.

Eetmi 03:49, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

I agree. Sad thing is I myself am to blame for the majority of the past few months. We were in a "rush" to get them made that I rushed through my own work before getting the comic. Even worse is the catch-22 we put ourselves in with having them tagged on the Main Page now. We can't have red-links on the Main Page (for aesthetic reasons) and it actually works against us since many of us don't get ALL the comics. The coding is done and it "looks" to be working for now. Like I said, it will automate if NOTHING is there, but it will give us a start. Expect the category to grow tonight and will definitely be full tomorrow. ;) Keep up the outstanding work and like I said, let me/us know if there is anything you see a pattern to that you would like us to try to automate. We are always looking for more ideas and your hard work doesn't go unnoticed. --M1shawhan 03:56, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Suh-weet! Seems to work like a charm! I also like the idea of it being at the top because then it's just obnoxious enough for people to want to get it out of the way by fixing the book. Ha! And yeah, I'm guilty of it too, but hopefully this will curb it somewhat. I've also noticed that pages for books are being created before they're even released? Maybe we should have some sort of solicited books template that seperates it from the regular books? Like a really scaled down version of the comics template that just has the cover, street date, solicitation, and a link to the official marvel page to help keep track of street date changes. It could then auto-categorize them into "Scheduled to Ship August 2009" and then when they actually do come out, change the template to the full comic template. I'm almost done, only about 15 more issues and the entire run for Thor volume 1 will be filled out with appearances. Then comes volume 2 and the minis. After that I'll probably pick another title I like and start on it.

Eetmi 04:12, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

HEHEHE...we actually have been looking into an idea for the future books. At the moment it is not a huge priority, but I would REALLY like a non-admin's opinion on these things. If you have not yet, check out the forums and we talk about all kinds of these issues there (just never quite get to getting good ideas for them and we need people like you to help give us better ones.) Keep those ideas flowing though! --M1shawhan 04:22, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

No problem!

Since it's not on his list, I need the major characters that appear from that reality and a description of the reality itself (just a sentance or two). It's just in issues 498-500, right?

Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 16:42, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Oh yea, and one thing to keep in mind, there are times when Earth-616 is warped to look like an alternate reality, and the events that transpire are actually happening to the 616 characters. (Such is the case with the House of M series, where we really didn't see the actual version of Earth-58163 until Avengers: House of M came out). So they may not have actually been transported to another reality, but only had their current reality and surroundings warped to seem like they had. (We can still give the reality that it was warped to look like a number, though). Just an FYI. :)
Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 16:46, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
I think I found the relevant info in those three comics' pages. Do you think it was a reality warp, or were the 616 versions actually transported to that reality? It seems like that reality wasn't seen in #500, but only in 498-99, am I wrong?
Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 16:56, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
I think it's a different reality as Odin was called Wotan and I'd have to pull the issue but I think Balder's named was spelled differently, so I'm inclined to lean towards an alternate reality as opposed to a warp.Eetmi 17:27, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I added the number (Earth-10190) to those pages, and emailed the Appendix guy. It should be added to his list within 30 days. :)
Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 17:57, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Cool. Just curious, but where'd you get the Earth number from?
I made it up. I basically just scrolled through the page until I got past all the 4-digit ones (I feel like there's way too many of those, conveniently) and picked a spot for it. If you have a number you prefer, it's not too late to change.
Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 20:40, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Nah, that's cool. I just wondered if you had some strange mathematical formulaEetmi 23:18, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
The annoying part is that the person that "seems" to be coming up with the designations (at least the majority) of them uses some formula. I just can't for the life of me remember what it is (and it is not always followed by Marvel canon, is the main problem.) PS - I pulled off the character stub from the comic template to allow for a vote. I had forgotten how stubs tend to hinder the site more than help, at least with concept and aesthetic reasons. This is why you see us pulling back from them so much (at least on the Marvel side). Since this one is a "prettied-up" one, we are gonna see how everyone's reaction is to it before we reactivate it. At least it is out there. Be sure to vote in the forums under polls to voice your opinion on it. --M1shawhan 23:31, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Well, I can tell you this about the Universe numbers, it's not just one dude making them up. It seems like a crazy hodgepodge of different contributors sticking any realities in they can think of that aren't there.
I think the temporary solution we came to on the DC side was to put them all at the bottom of the page, but I hesitate to bring that up because of my personal feelings against them. So I really hope I'm not coming across as harsh about this stuff, just trying to get my opinion out there as much as possible. :)
Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 04:07, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Date

I thought I was setting them for August. Did I miss one? --M1shawhan 01:52, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Weird...I was having trouble uploading them as well. I checked them on my side and they showed August 2009 since I put in 8 for the month section. I went ahead though and pulled off all the dates on the ones I just added. Thanks for the catch. I just hope there is not something ELSE going on than just the dates. :( --M1shawhan 01:59, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Minors

Yea, the Minor Character template is a bit outdated, since the original idea was to feature all of the minor characters in a big list on the disambiguation pages. The template is still helpful, though. Say you know a character you'd like to make is minor, having only appeared once or twice. Now, you probably don't want to fish through all of the 50 fields of the regular character template, since you don't know what a lot of those actually are for the character in mind. You can still use the minor template, and it's limited amount of fields, as long as you replace "Marvel Database:" in the first line with "subst:User:Peteparker/". What that does is take all of the info you put into the minor template, and place it in the appropriate spots on the Major template. (You may have seen the bot do this). I find that it's a very convenient tool for when I don't want to have to deal with the major character template right off the bat.

We discussed it in the forums here, but I'm starting to worry that the organization of the forums isn't all that straight-forward. You're the second person this week who was unable to find the posts they were looking for!

We didn't really broadcast that we're not using the minor template anymore, but kind of came to a decision about it anyway. There's probably a better place to put the announcement, but we've been having trouble finding a place for that kind of stuff too. (Beyond the forums and the sitemessages).

Hope that helps!

Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 14:10, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Yea, the upgrade to the regular character template (which now only has three fields that always show, even if they're not filled in, Real Name, First Appearance, History, and Links) was part of the decision to transition away from the minor template.
As for the forums, there's a link towards the top when you're logged in called 'View your posts', which will take you to a list of all the threads you've posted to, with the most recently changed ones at the top. If there's a new post, there will be a tiny orange page icon at the front of the line, and I believe the font becomes pink instead of blue. (This is pretty hard to describe when I don't have a new post there!) On the main start page, called 'Board index', any sections that have posts that you haven't read will have the bubble thing on the left outlined in pink instead of blue. Any discussion that you chime in on will automatically be added to your 'watch list', and you should be notified by email when someone else has posted after you. I looked for a setting where you'd switch that part on or off, but I wasn't able to find it, so if you're not getting the emails, check your spam folder.
I know you can subscribe to a thread without having to post to it if you click on 'Subscribe topic' in the bottom left hand corner.
Like I said, I think the forums are about due for a major re-organization, but since it's run and maintained by one guy, that may or may not happen.
Great questions! If you have them, I know other users have them, so if you think of a way to get this information out to the general public, I'm more than willing to listen to any ideas! :)

Animals

Instead of adding an entirely new template, we could always use the existing character template, and modify it to show the relevant information if the character is categorized as an Animal. We already have some auto-categorization set up for animals, if 'Animal' is put into the Citizenship field. (We figured Animals aren't legal citizens of a country per-se).

It would be possible to expand on that, if we thought the other fields were important. Say, show the "| Owner/Handler = " field if 'Animal' is put into the Citizenship field.

Some of the fields in that template seem geared more towards a 'race' than an individual character, like NumberOfLegs or NumberOfWings. Even if there's only one representative of a race, we can always make a race page for them.

I think it's a great idea to bring up in the forums, and see if others are interested too. I looked at that handbook yesterday, and it's kind of cool, but I really thought there were many more than even the handbook showed. And Tippy-Toe only got a quarter page? Squirrel-Girl's squirrels are more important than that, in my opinion. They did take down 616's Doctor Doom, you know. ;)

Soliciteds

Seems like discussion is still ongoing.

One thing you'll notice around here is that since it's a democracy, it takes quite awhile before actual change takes place.

Pinging people with personal messages will get them to respond faster though. Welcome to the congressional senate! :)

Comic Template

Hey Chris!

I worked on the ReleaseDate field a bit, but wasn't able to get the automatic date stuff set up quite yet. I'll keep working on it, but you can go ahead and start adding a ReleaseDate field to the future solicits, once the template gets situated, it'll all work out.

Later Gator,

Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 03:00, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Oh yea, and the format is: 7-5-2009. :)
Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 03:02, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Added the section for links back to the template. --M1shawhan 21:46, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Yea, that's probably the best idea. That way, we can get the way it's 'supposed to be' down, and start from there. We're pretty close though. :)
Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 00:16, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

X-Men Forever

Nope, not yet. Were you adding profiles for the characters? We can work on making one if that's where you were going...

Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 04:20, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Raptor

Have no idea why that was working that way, but I moved the image, and it works now.

VERY weird... :)

Re: Tales of Asgard

Hi Eetmi. I was looking over your Thor site and I didn't see synopsis for Tales of Asgard. You didn't write synopsis for those short stories?

Darkseid01 19:40, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Edits at same time...

This has come up a few times in the forums and now that there is a little more handle on things, we may want to look into it further. I would bring up a new post on the forums and you will definitely hear from all of us on it. I am pretty sure that there is a way in the background to "lock" a page while it is being edited. The problem with this is going to be timing and how long the user leaves their session open (I open a page to edit and never close it...) Overall though, bring it up and maybe we can settle the debate. --M1shawhan 02:06, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Week Category

Ummm...there is {{CURRENTWEEK}}, which gives 23 <-- this. The problem with that is I bet it will only accrue as the weeks progress and not remain the static for that page. We would have to manually code in some logic to say x/x/xxxx = this week, while y/y/xxxx = this week (or even in date ranges...which might be easier). Could get a little more complicated than wanted, but I think it is doable. Just might take a little while to try to work out the kinks. --M1shawhan 02:25, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

NO! No hassle, and I like challenges and I love your ideas. Just will take a while to come up with a idea. Didn't want you to think it would be done tonight. ;) --M1shawhan 02:40, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Trust me, the thought has run by many times. That's actually what I like about this site. It's not run by an all-powerful set of overlords. Instead, WE make the site what we want and stuff. Gives a lot more freedom to do things. Keep the ideas coming and we will try to get as much done as we can. The more the better. ;) --M1shawhan 02:51, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Been thinking about this one. Here's what I have come up with (and noticed). I saw you were tagging the comics with the Week categories manually. This is fine, but I think I worked something out, plus I am not sure you thought about that being the fact that you named it without the year and made the category null for next year's weeks. Anyhow, here's what I was thinking. We integrate it into the template! We are already using the "Release Date" into the field. What we can do is:
  1. either convert that date into the numbered day of the year, August 5th = day 217. Divide this by 7 days in a week and you get 31, which is the date of week 31's release. SOOO, we can state that anything released day #1-7 = week 1, #8-15= week 2, and so on.
  2. OR, we can have it simply say that if Release Date = 8-5-2009, then add "Category:Week 31, 2009", 8-12-2009 = "Category:Week 32, 2009". This is looking to be a little easier going off the Release Date field.
I'm not sure where my head was at when I first answered you back, but this is looking a LOT easier and I'd recommend we do #2. Only because I can have it pulled over to another template and add in a bunch of stuff to it that way. Cool? (Sorry for the rambling) ;) --M1shawhan 02:01, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm going with #2 and it will be automated. ;) After I test it and make sure it works, I'll show you how to manipulate it for future weeks this next year and you can tinker with it as needed from then on. One question though, I can make it keep off the year, but tell me now if you want to do this. The only reason I was thinking was that you are not going through and removing the Release Dates, right? If you aren't then they will always be in that category, so having a year might make things easier. The other nice thing is that the images automation on the Solicitations category will be MUCH easier this way... I'll show you when I'm done. Give me about 10 mins to test. --M1shawhan 02:32, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Alright! It's done. I left the year category on (for the moment) and you can remove it/add it back anytime needed. Here's what you'll do. Go to this link. This is where you will plug in all the dates you want it to categorize for. I made it pretty straight-forward based on an old Citizen template that Nate made. All you do is plug in the dates and put the equals for the category you want. The template will do the rest once you save. If you decide to leave out the year (which I am thinking you might want to keep unless you'll be removing the Release Date fields), just erase the ", 2009". Easy, right? :) --M1shawhan 02:48, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Ah! Fixed. 2 things - 1) you don't have to add the template to the template...it will be automagically put in when you type in the Release Date. :) And 2) if you fill out Release Date and it does NOT match one of the options you put in the ReleaseWeek template, you'll get the Release Date as the category... this is part of the joy of coding and you can either ADD that date to the ReleaseWeek template OR the date is wrong and needs to be changed. Make sense? --M1shawhan 03:05, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

As long as the Release Date field is filled out, they will be in that category. That's the catch. If someone removes the Release Date the comic will be pulled out of the category. That was REALLY my reason for tagging the year since I too like the Release Date there, and with keeping it there, the comics will never come out of the category. Like I said though, this will be more or less your baby and you can do with it as you please. Just let us know if major changes happen to it. ;) --M1shawhan 03:15, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Interlinking

No, I haven't installed it just yet. It could be something we look at installing in the other templates eventually too, depending on how well it works. I only got one or two people who said they liked the idea in the forums, and I can never tell how many people saying yes! go! is enough...

X-Men Forever Reality Number

Really? Claremont likes that number? Must be where it comes from. But, yeah, that reality number's from the big official master list. No word on any of the others that we need, like for Iron Man: Armored Adventures. --GrnMarvl14 22:34, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

They likely do, to a certain extent. And maybe Claremont's the one who came up with this reality number. Who knows?
--GrnMarvl14 22:47, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Images

Loaded fine for me that time. However, I'm just glad those things don't ONLY happen to me. It is random and for me even a reload of the page will sometimes make it appear. I have tried MANY things and pretty much determined it is either my browser (Firefox) or server lag that is causing the problem. Since I see it happen on other sites for me, Google, Yahoo and such when images are involved, I assumed it was my browser. If you use IE or other browsers, let me know if it works fine. Otherwise, I think it is a browser or other type of issue. --M1shawhan 03:12, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

ReleaseWeek Template

Solicit template looks like it is using DPL to capture the date and you are "seeing" what it captures for the dates it is looking for. Once that date passes or falls out of the range it is looking for it doesn't show it. The nice thing with that and this new template is that you will be able to tell is specific categories now, rather than ranges of dates and it will show all of that category.

For the ReleaseWeek template though, it will do everything for you. All you have to do is plug in new dates for next year's Wednesday dates. This may be easier to explain on IRC chat so you can type and still see it in another tab, or do you have IM? --M1shawhan 03:26, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Image Replacements

Something might be coming down the pipe (or being turned on) really soon that will allow you to truly replace an image on the site. That way you won't have to put the "To Be Deleted" tag on the page and it will instead override the image with yours you upload. You might want to hold on this until further notice and I'll let you know as soon as I hear word back. FYI - the conversation is here. --M1shawhan 16:41, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

Thor Appearances

Ok, sorry for the delayed response. I was out of town and then when I got back I saw your message and then forgot about it till today when I got the Wiki message. Sorry! :(

Anyhow, we are trying to keep those two appearance categories combined into one so there is not a category for Thor and a category for Thor Odinson and you see all of THOR's appearances on one screen. When we "merge" categories, the bot will go in and does the moves. If we delete out the category it leaves a red-link to it which is supposed to alert you/us that the category you are trying to put things under is not created (due to not yet built or it is the "wrong" category). If we left it as is, we would not "see" them when we run the bot. For the renamed Google pages it is not as big of a deal as the others since we know those and we can force the bot to manually scan those categories to merge them all each time it runs. I probably deleted those more out of habit than really meaning to. I have a DPL running on my userpage that will show us the redirected pages and when the bot runs through them, I usually delete them out since it shows us what we REALLY need to run the bot through and not waste our time with unused redirects. That was the overall reason though. Let me know if you have any questions about it. --M1shawhan 00:12, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

UGH! No, I had not noticed that we were still linking to the old appearance pages from those character pages. No wonder it was confusing you. Sorry about that. I restored the pages and all should be good in the world again. Now I'll have to check those other Google pages. Thank you for the heads up. --M1shawhan 02:37, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Earth-334

Thanks! Yea, the main cheat sheet lists a lot of non-marvel books, I think in an attempt to map all of the known multiverse. I tried to remove as many of those as possible in my sheet, making it pure Marvel, but obviously I didn't get them all. :)

Thanks again!

Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 12:52, October 2, 2009 (UTC)

Congrats off to ya!

Hey Eetmi!

I am honored to be the one to officially tell you that you have been made an Administrator here! With your new-found title comes a wealth of abilities you may begin to notice immediately. From being able to move pages and images to outright deleting any article, administration is both fun and freeing, as you're not bound by as many rules as regular users. One page you may want to check out is How to Administrate. It's a bit outdated, but still has some great points on there. It also looks like quite a bit of work at first glance, but remember that we have a good handful of people all working to accomplish similar goals, so don't feel like you need to do any or all of those on your own. Another great place to check out is the Staff thread on the forums. It's where we discuss problems we can't deal with ourselves, or give heads up to other admins. Anyway, as you know, many of us, including me, are almost always on here, so if you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to ask.

Oh yea, and of course with Great Power comes Great Responsibility. ;)

Congrats again!

Nathan (Peteparker) (Earth-1218) (talkcontribsemail) 04:48, October 13, 2009 (UTC)

Congratulations! Feel the power as it surges through you! We will teach you the secret handshake later this week, but it is very complex. I sprained three fingers the first time I tried it :) Welcome to the wonderful world of admins!
Artful Dodger 10:57, October 13, 2009 (UTC)
Congratulations Eetmi!
Though we haven't worked closely together in the past, I have heard nothing but good things about you.
I look forward to chatting with you soon!
Cheers,
--Jamie 15:18, October 13, 2009 (UTC)
Yes, congratulations indeed. Use your new powers wisely and don't lord them over people...unless you have to. And I'm glad you're already active on the forums, as I'm sure you'll not hesitate to join in on staff discussions (and we ALWAYS encourage all staff members to participate, but don't require it. I mean, hey, we all have other responsibilities, but the more opinions, the better).
--GrnMarvl14 19:21, October 13, 2009 (UTC)
Congratulations! Glad to have you aboard! Can't wait to work with you on all those projects you are coming up with all the time. Feel free to talk up in the staff forum and let us know if you are ever needing anything and we'll be happy to assist! :) --M1shawhan 22:50, October 13, 2009 (UTC)

Patrols

There is (technically WAS since we haven't turned it back on) a way to patrol the edits that are made. You'd basically "sign off" on the edits and it would remove it from a list of unpatrolled edits. This way we would be able to check each and every single edit that comes in. It was a javascript that Wikia added to the sites and then turned "off". We can turn it on again at any time, but from the last I checked, I think it is still off. If it gets turned back on, it would be much easier to show you than explain, but it was a patrol option from the recent changes link. --M1shawhan 02:43, October 14, 2009 (UTC)

LOL! We always "work". ;) Personally, I think we should. In fact, right when I responded to you last, I am on Wikia Help to find out how to turn it back on. I think it has something to do with the logs and it may cause a lag on servers, but I think it is minuscule enough to look into turning it back on -- temporarily if nothing else. --M1shawhan 02:49, October 14, 2009 (UTC)
Hehehe... I THOUGHT I had seen it "on" after it had been turned off. Apparently it still is "on" for New Pages only right now. See this page - (yellow highlights are the pages not "patrolled". When you click on them it gives you the option to patrol them. Admins by default are marked patrolled.) Also, we (I would suggest Jamie) can request that the option be turned back "on" by Wikia and only allow patrols from the recent changes. This would allow us to patrol ALL changes. We can specify admins only as otherwise anyone can "patrol" their own page and that defeats the purpose. --M1shawhan 02:57, October 14, 2009 (UTC)

Thor/Hercules

Hiya. I just wanted to say that the pictures of the gods you uploaded from the Thor/Hercules Encyclopedia Mythologica are fantastic! Did you scan them yourself? Rodtheanimegod4ever 17:59, November 3, 2009 (UTC)

  • Well, you're very welcome. I've been into mythology as long as I can remember, and I really think Marvel has one of the best adaptations of real-world mythology to a fictional universe. Could I ask you a favor? Do you think you could scan the other ones after the Annunaki? I'll even help make articled for the characters in them, if you do this for me. Rodtheanimegod4ever 01:47, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
    • Wow, thanks. When do you think you'll have the time? Rodtheanimegod4ever 02:10, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
It's done. All the Pantheons have pages now. And let me tell you, some of it was an absolute zoo to wade through (seriously, who got the idea that the Mayan and Aztec pantheons were the same in Marvel?). The rest is up to you. Good luck with those scans! Rodtheanimegod4ever 05:10, November 6, 2009 (UTC)
Say, did you get my last message? Sorry if I'm being annoying. Rodtheanimegod4ever 02:18, November 10, 2009 (UTC)
Eetmi, you are a god (pun intended). Rodtheanimegod4ever 02:23, November 10, 2009 (UTC)
Fantastic! I noticed you missed the Asgardians, though. Flame Deity 03:38, November 16, 2009 (UTC)
Say, did you gt my message about the Asgardians? Flame Deity 03:37, November 21, 2009 (UTC)

Congrats on getting done with the gods! Very high-quality stuff. Pardon me if I'm being a bother, but was there any reason you didn't do the Asgardians, Olympians, Teteoh, and Eternals? Flame Deity 04:03, November 28, 2009 (UTC)

  • You could put them in the gallery! Flame Deity 04:17, November 28, 2009 (UTC)
    • Thanks again for the pictures. They're very good for cropping out pictures of the individual gods. In all honesty that's why I wanted them; my scanner is considerably lower-quality than yours, apparently. I'm sorry if my constant asking about the Asgardians, etc. is annoying, by the way. Flame Deity 03:15, November 29, 2009 (UTC)
      • Hi, me again. I've uploaded all the individual gods from each group shot! Thanks so much for your help! Flame Deity 00:53, December 23, 2009 (UTC)

Cool number

When I checked your page, you had an even 12,000 edits. Very impressive and mathematically pleasing!
Artful Dodger 03:36, November 10, 2009 (UTC)

New little template

Hey Eetmi!

Thought you could use a new little template:

{{subst:Solicit Template
| ReleaseDate =
| SolicitText =
| CatalogURL =
}}

If you use that instead of the comic template when you're filling in future books, it'll fill everything else out for you (ie image, editor in chief).

I noticed you're really only using these three slots anyway (CatalogURL goes under 'Links'), so why not make it easier on you. I also tweaked the release date field so you can copy/paste it from marvel's catalog pages. You should be able to see a new button (with a "$") up above the edit field. This will put the template right into the page for you click on it.

You have to bypass your browser's cache to see the new button:

  • Internet Explorer: hold down the Ctrl key and click the Refresh or Reload button, or press Ctrl+F5.
  • Firefox: hold down the Shift key while clicking Reload; alternatively press Ctrl+F5 or Ctrl-Shift-R.
  • Opera users have to clear their caches through Tools→Preferences
  • Konqueror and Safari users can just click the Reload button.
  • Chrome: press Ctrl+F5 or Shift+F5

Hope it helps!

Handbook Profiles

Be careful when doing the Handbook profiles. Numerous pages have already been done, but might not be listed under the most obvious name. This is why I usually wait for a while before doing the pages for the Handbooks, so I can check every possible permutation of a name and reduce my risk of making duplicate pages. --GrnMarvl14 03:02, April 24, 2010 (UTC)

Actually, I'm referring to a few pages you've made with this Handbook and the last that didn't really need to be made...because they already existed. FAUST, for example. Searching for "Faust" would take you to the pre-existing page. Creating redirects is a great idea, but if you're not careful, you end up doing a LOT of work you don't need to. I speak from experience. Nothing's as frustrating as creating the page, then realizing it already existed...and with more info, just not on the best pagename. A few extra searches can save you a big headache down the road.

Marvel Comics Presents #144

Can I ask why you removed all of the characters from this issue? Seems an odd edit. --GrnMarvl14 13:11, May 14, 2010 (UTC)

AH. Okay. Had to ask. Removing one or two characters I would have left alone, but removing ALL of them just threw me off. Didn't think I could be THAT wrong. Thanks for letting me know what happened, though. I definitely understand being in the middle of an edit and needing to go.

Hey

Mr. Eetmi, sir, I'm a new user at this wiki, and I was wondering, if, maybe, you had the Official Handbooks and could tell me the powers and abilities of Janus Tepes (Earth-616), exactly as it was. I swear, Im just curious, I wont use it for the wiki, I just wanna know this one character, and then I'll go if you want me to. Please, sir. You could scan it, tell me it, anyway you want, tomorrow, or next week. plz, I would be really, really grateful if you could do this huge favor for me. Zauriel188 03:10, June 18, 2010 (UTC)

New Comics

I noticed you got the new comics again! There was a while ago I noticed you were lagging a bit, and I decided to finish up the month of July. And I believe I already did some of August.. Well, I'm assuming you've got the rest. Nice work! I was going to eventually, but I'm trying to throw some work into Comics:Namor. Trying to catch up to you... ;) --Johnnybravo44 02:22, June 25, 2010 (UTC)

Just wondering.. where are you finding about all these new comics? I'm not seeing most of the ones you have added on any month at Marvel.com.. --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 21:46, September 30, 2010 (UTC)
Got ya! Yeah I noticed.. Marvel seems to do that a lot with those new comics. ..Is it bad that I forgot of Newarama.com? Probably! ;) --Johnnybravo44 (talk) 01:37, October 1, 2010 (UTC)

Solicit Template

Should be all fixed up now, sorry about that. Sometimes this coding is really confusing, and an error isn't obvious to the naked eye.

Let me know if you still see issues! :)

Redirecting/Moving

In the future, please leave the move stub up instead of just erasing and moving the content. A lot of the stuff I did for Invaders Now! I'm being forced to redo because a bot didn't do the moving. Plus, the original edits I made for the first page aren't going to appear on the issue page, but on the redirect. And the images themselves are still at the old names, making them incorrect. Basically, now someone needs to go through and move those images and change any links to the volume page or the individual issue's original pagenames. A lot of work that could have easily been done by a bot. --GrnMarvl14 19:05, October 15, 2010 (UTC)

Don't forget to replace whatever they named the episode in youtube (in the 'Name' field), with the name of the article you're working on. :)

It's ok, I was a bit frustrated with the lack of ability to change the ugly frame around the video (and I tried my damnedest), but I think it looks decent now, and having a video there really makes more sense than an image for these. Of course, if the youtube content is ever taken down, our videos will no longer work, which is why I left the images there too, as backup if we just need to remove the vids.

The video size looks weird on the older episodes too, but it's probably just my eyes. ;)

Rebecca Steinhardt

Can I ask where you saw her full name as "Rebecca"? I just looked through it again and again just saw "Becca". --GrnMarvl14 20:55, November 12, 2010 (UTC)

Might want to read it again. As I just read, for the fourth time, she says "I'm Becca. Becca Steinhardt. Come in the kitchen -- and tell me all about yourself."

True, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's her full name. And we really shouldn't assume it is. It's that kind of assuming that created a big debate on the Red Skull's talk page...and that was just over one letter.

Vault Prisoner 3

I don't know if the scars are from the comics or original, but I've gathered a guess as to the villain's identity. It has to be Chemistro, the supervillain criminal with the "Alchemy Gun", and archenemy of Luke Cage.

Volume Debut Categories

Hey there! :)

Just a heads up, there's a template for these categories, when you'd like to create one. Just use either {{subst:Cat}} or {{Volume Debut}} and it'll set up all the categories you need. :)

Thor

What do you think Thor's Power Grid would have looked like with the runes and odin force. --PerseusJackson Image:PerseusJackson.jpg 20px 17:41, December 20, 2010 (UTC)

Big Fan of Your Work

Okay, I just have to know. How do you get such good images, like the character ones for "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes"!?
