    Uncanny X-Men 145 Review

    January 20, 2019 by Mgeddes

I guess you're probably wonders what is compelling me to write these blogs?

Great question! I am always looking for more on these books, and I can't really find anything beyond the synopsis and some cover shots. It makes me laugh that I go to a search engine and type the name of the book and and the first thing that pops up after what I've typed is the word "value". It always pisses me off. I go on Craigslist and look for X-Men comics. Some asshole has his collection listed of crappy condition X-Men comics from the 90's for 300 dollars.

I hope the people that keep doing this stunt are reading the below statement, because this is the truth of comic collecting:

KEY ISSUES ARE VALUABLE. THEY HAVE FIRST APPEARANCES OR MAJOR EVENTS IN THEM. ALSO B…

This story was the first after the legendary run of Chris Claremont and Jon Byrne working together. I think this book has a lot to do with the sharp spike in unpopularity between 143- 144 and beyond. X-Men titles are FAR much less desirable from here. One of the biggest mistakes that is really obvious is having small cameo of the popular X-Men. Leaving Scott Summers to carry the entire story on his grief stricken, unpopular, shoulders. I mean, Cyclops... Where do I start? The guy shoots lasers out of his eyes.

My first impression of the X-Men and the reason why I got instantly hooked was Wolverine. I was probably 11-12 when the X-Men cartoon was airing on Fox back in 1992, and instead of headbanging with chicks to Nirvana, I was grooving to…

This is a book I rolled my eyes at and resisted buying for a long time. It was one of those books that wasn't a must have and had a Christmas tree with Shadow Cat on the front of with a creature that looked exactly like Alien. I thought the idea of a Christmas X-men story was kind of dumb. Plus it's a hard act to follow after 141-142. I finally bit the bullet and bought a mid-high grade copy of it. It sat in my collection for about a year, and then I decided to sequentially read the entire series and it forced me into opening up this one-shot. I was expecting to place it back in the collection to satisfy my perfectly sequenced collection and never pick it up again.

Of course I really liked it. It's widespread knowledge that they were paying…

    Uncanny X-Men 142 Review

    January 2, 2019 by Mgeddes

This one is a fairly easy review. This is one that ties up a two part series that has been the topic of a lot of comic lover's conversations since it's release in the 1980's. It's hard to say too much that is bad about it. It ended an epic run, and helped bump a new character, Kitty Pryde into mainstream.

A few times a year, I often dream about a "what if" universe where I could go back in time and fix my past. I think about if I had just said something a different way, or made a right turn instead of a left my life could have taken a completely different path. I feel like this story is a classic because most of us can relate to the fantasy of it. Here is this hellish future which is just a complete toilet, and this woman is given the oppor…
