The Wailig Mists,[2] or Valley of Wailing Mists lies in the southern part of the isle of Avalon, on Otherworld, west of the Great Rift and northeast of Castle Le Fay.[1] It is said only sorcerers dare tread on this land.[3]
History
The Valley of Wailing Mists is an elongated low area running between hills in the land of Gorre, a day’s ride south west from Camelot.[4] The Valley is known for its overlying fog, which conceals Castle Le Fay, former home to the sorceress.[4] Presumably, as Camelot, the Valley of Wailing Mists and Castle Le Fay were relocated to Avalon, since they also existed in the Earth realm centuries ago.[5]
In recent times, Otherworld was invaded by the army of undead of Horoam'ce, the Goat of Self-Propagation. The Goat's forces conquered everything beyond the Great Rift and the Wailing Mists[2] until the Goat was ultimately defeated.[6]
The forces of the Manchester Gods also invaded the Valley as they hoped to destroy Castle Le Fay, one of Otherworld’s places of power.[7]
Most recently, Excalibur guided Dr. Doom through the Valley of Wailing Mists in order to reach Castle Le Fay. While in the Valley, the mutant team suffered an assassination attempt by an unidentified vampire from Sevalith. After the assassin missed his strike, he disappeared into the mist and Excalibur resumed their journey towards Castle Le Fay.[3]Points of Interest
