A volcano erupted and sent them fleeing and Moon-Boy lead Devil to a stream where the pain from his wounds subsided. Moon-Boy brought him food and when Devil had healed, Moon-Boy brought his new 'brother' to his people, the Small-Folk. The Small-Folk were frightened of Devil; however, and fled at the sight of him, leaving Moon-Boy and Devil alone against the world. Reprint of the 2nd story from
Tower of Shadows #6
Beowulf plans to invade the city of Vanaria with his band of Vandals when one of his men goes mad. Once he investigates the forest in which his man came from he spots a maiden tied to a tree. She explains that she's a sacrifice for a Beast-God whom's appearance causes madness. Beowulf frees the maiden and slays the creature. He returns to Vanaria and is heralded as a hero but Beowulf's greed has him overthrow the King of Vanaria. Once the King is dead he spots a glowing ring he wants but the Princee Ulana takes it and jumps from the castle walls into the moat. Some time later the ghost of the God-Beast returns and causes madness among Beowulf's men. His men betray him and tie Beowulf to a tree for sacrifice to appease the Beast-God. Ulana comes to him and gives Beowulf the ring to use to fight and slay the beast. Beowulf does just that but learns that Ulana betrayed him and that the reason he was able to kill the ghost was that he himself is now a ghost because the ring was coated in poison and killed him. Beowulf's ghost now haunts the ruins of Vanaria.

He explains the situation to Strange who agrees to check out the location of the death. Both are unaware that occult forces are watching them. Their meeting is interrupted by the arrival of Clea, who has come looking for Stephen after she learned that he was not home after she ran an errand.

Strange and Clea go to the sewer where the attack took place and in doing so the two are attacked by some strange creature who pulls Strange into a mystical realm. Clea jumps in after her lover and teacher and tries to use her magic powers to save him, but she is attacked by shadow thralls. She fights them off and finds that Stephen is being tortured by the creature. Neither suspect that they are being attacked by pawns sent by the Dweller-in-Darkness, who hopes to use it's powers to make the Sorcerer Supreme doubt in his abilities.

Clea manages to free Dr. Strange, however in spite of the Dweller's added magical might, the creatures are no match for the two sorcerers and are easily defeated. Upon their defeat, the creatures turn back into the supposedly deceased sewer workers. Strange and Clea use a spell of forgetfulness so that they forget the encounter and send them on their way.

As the couple leave the sewers, they have to wonder who their attacker is. While the Dweller watches over them, vowing that he will succeed in his next attack against Dr. Strange.

Reprint of the 4th story from
Journey Into Mystery #99
Odin Borson (Earth-616) from Journey Into Mystery Vol 1 99 001

Hearing that the trolls have joined the evil Surtur, Odin invades their land. When the trolls attempt to ambush Odin, he thrusts his sword into the earth, releasing power that drives the trolls away.

Odin faces Surtur himself, as the demon transforms into a sinister multi-headed serpent. But Odin with his power draws meteors down onto Surtur.

Realizing he cannot defeat Odin directly, Surtur attacks the earth. Boring deep into the earth, he releases a huge chunk of matter into the sky which becomes earth's moon.

Using his powers, Odin constructs the Rainbow bridge which connects Asgard to earth. Upon reaching earth, Odin uses his power to set the earth spinning, trapping Surtur deep within the planet. From there the fire demon produces heat and energy for the earth. Hoping to earn freedom, Surtur presents Odin with the gift of a flying horse.
