Vampyrsk is a nation of Vampires located in Europe, established in the irradiated zone of Chernobyl. The capital city is Stravmor and the major city is Dragul. The region covers an area of approximately 2,600 km (1,000 sq mi) and was originally part of the Ukraine (formerly within the USSR) immediately surrounding the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant where radioactive contamination is highest and public access and habitation are restricted.[1]

Conquest of Chernobyl
Dracula, the legendary king of the Vampires, orchestrated a plan to seize a portion of Russia's territory. He instructed his son Xarus to adopt the identity of the Shadow Colonel, a purportedly dissident vampire who contested the throne aided by this Legion of the Unliving.[2] Under orders of his father, Xarus committed genocide on his own people, weeding out the weaker members of the vampiric race.[4] Taking a frail and weakened appearance, Dracula used these attacks to seek refuge in Russia and exchanged all his knowledge for a piece of territory where he could allegedly spend his final days in peace.[5] The Russian government dispatched Dracula to Chernobyl, a region devastated by the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant back in the 1980's, unaware that he could still strive in this radiation-filled land. Dracula reunited with the Legion of the Unliving in this territory, and declared it the Kingdom of the Vampires.[2] He renamed the region once known as the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone as "Vampyrsk".[1]
After he established his kingdom, he resurfaced later on in Paris and while the world was distracted by the rise of the new sovereign Mutant nation of Krakoa, the Vampire Nation used this opportunity to rise in the shadows. Just like the mutants were now united behind their leader, Professor X, the vampires were also now united behind Dracula.[6]
