History
Origin[]
Varuna was one of the Bird Men of Akah Ma'at, a race created by the goddess Oshtur to battle the beast races created and spread over the world by the elder demons Chthon and Set.
One of the Bird Men, Shamhat became the second Sorcerer Supreme of Earth. She and her sponsors Oshtur and Agamotto guided her people, who swiftly evolved into powerful sorcerer, and became almost godlike beings, the Winged Lords. Varuna was the most powerful of those Lords.[1]
Asura[]
Varuna was lied to by Chthon, which caused him to became suspicious of the "lower races". He started to believe his kind superior and were legible to force their will on other, and gathered like-minded Bird-Men, forming the Asura. Ashamed by them, the Great Priestess Saraswati and her followers, the Seraphim, made the vow of protecting those the Asura would harm.
That vow escalated in a war causing massive Earthly devastation, and Oshtur was forced to banish both factions to the extradimensional Planes of Sephiroth (where the Bird Men continued to evolve).[1]
Varuna's fate remains unrevealed.
Hyborian Age[]
Varuna seemingly became a godly figureduring the Hyborian Age, and his name was invoked, along other deities'.[2]Attributes
