Quote1 Eddie Brock is such a small part of what we are...but you...your power will complete us. Quote2
-- Venom

The Symbiote had, at some point, bonded to Peter Parker on Battleworld. Sometime later, Peter would reject it, and it would ultimately bond with Eddie Brock, creating the creature known as Venom.

During a battle with Spider-Man, a portion of the symbiote managed to remove itself from Brock and rebond with Spider-Man. The black-suited Spider-Man became stronger and defeated Venom, though Venom managed to get away.

Later, the symbiote began duplicating itself and infecting New York. With a symbiote outbreak growing, multiple heroes and villains found themselves becoming infected; among them being Wolverine, Black Cat, Electro, and the Vulture.

Spider-Man and S.H.I.E.L.D. fought back the infection, though over time the symbiote grew into a massive, five-headed creature. When Spider-Man confronted it on the Helicarrier, the Venom-Hydra expressed that Eddie Brock was no longer in control, and that it planned to complete itself with Spider-Man's symbiote and use the Helicarrier to spread the symbiote throughout the world.

When Spider-Man tried calling out to Eddie, he, as Venom, emerged from the creature, pleading for help. Eddie was ultimately killed when he was was pulled in the engine by a symbiotic Spider-Man in order to remove competition and be free to rule over New York, or by pulling himself to redeem himself as he was no longer what he swore to be, and harmed the innocent, so he decided to kill himself.[1]

Seemingly those of the Venom Symbiote of Earth-616. In addition to this, Venom also has the following powers:

  • Replication: Venom can replicate the Symbiote and attach it to other people, thus 'infecting' them. He can either do this directly or through the creation of 'hives'.
  • Subversion: Upon discovering the ability to replicate, Venom gains the power to subvert the personality of its host, including Eddie Brock, and also all of the people Venom infects.

  • Intense Sound: The symbiote is extremely sensitive to high frequencies of sound and Sonic attacks, first shown when Peter Parker separated from the symbiote using a Church Bell.
  • Intense Heat: The symbiote is also vulnerable to intense levels of heat.
