History

The symbiote's history presumably mirrors its Earth-616 counterpart's up to the point where it was abandoned by Spider-Man at Our Lady of Saints Church. It originally planned to bond to Eddie Brock but found She-Hulk to be a more tempting target and bonded with her instead.

From then on, the symbiote continued to take control of She-Hulk's body to do its own bidding and, as the years went on and She-Hulk failed to keep a stable lawyer career, she started living on the street. One night, while forcing She-Hulk to feed on some homeless people, they were attacked by Sabretooth who wore a belt that sonic waves that weakened the symbiote. After a short, brutal fight, Sabretooth obtained a sample of the symbiote and fled. She-Hulk wanted to chase after Sabretooth, but the symbiote didn't care and prevented She-Hulk from doing so. She-Hulk was later approached by Jake Lockley who told her that Moon Knight could help in dealing with the symbiote.[1]

After She-Hulk arrived in the Midnight Mission, the symbiote reasserted control and knocked out Marc Spector and his assistant Living Mummy. It then took control of the Midnight Mission where it planned to take over more superhumans.[2]

Sabretooth was later confronted by Wolverine, which was really a setup by Sabretooth to bond Wolverine to the sample of symbiote he obtained. The symbiote took control of Wolverine's body by suppressing his consciousness using his mental trauma. Wolverine eventually regained control over his body and forced the symbiote to cede control over to him. Wolverine was then approached by Steven Grant who offered him to help in removing the symbiote.[3]

The container that Sabretooth used to transport the symbiote was examined by Doctor Strange. Strange tried to capture the symbiote, but it was able to avoid capture by disguising itself as Strange's Cloak of Levitation. When the Enchantress tried to kill Strange so she could take over the Sanctum Sanctorum, the symbiote aided Strange in fighting her off. When the symbiote then tried to take over Strange's body, Strange subdued the symbiote and convinced it to work with him instead of against him. Marc Spector then appeared and asked for Strange's help as the symbiote had taken over Spector's Midnight Mission.[4]

However, Spector had been forcibly bonded to the symbiote and actually lured Wolverine and Strange into a trap where they, She-Hulk, and Living Mummy were kept captive in the Midnight Mission's basement.[2]

Eventually, the symbiote also bonded with the God of Mischief Loki. Wanting the other remnants of the symbiote, Loki targeted the Midnight Mission and trapped Spector in a mental illusion. Spector escaped with help from the symbiote but before Loki killed the god Khonshu.[5]

Spector gathered his personas and confronted Loki. With help from the symbiote, Spector subdued Loki with an electrified baton. Spector and the others then captured the different fragments of the symbiote. SHIELD then appeared to take it and Loki into custody with SHIELD planning to use the former to fight future threats.[2]
