Synopsis for "Five Questions: Part One"

Approached by an unknown person who arrives in the Un-Beyond, the Eventuality says they get five questions... but that since he's bored of answering the same questions over and over he'll bend the rules to give them a few freebies--explaining that they're in the Black Engine and that he is the ultimate apotheosized form of Eddie Brock, an amalgamation of every Eddie in the Multiverse who became Venom and ascended to the role of King in Black. After the freebies, the unknown person asks the question "What if Eddie Brock wasn't Venom?" Stating that it's a fair question, the Eventuality notes that if the unknown person had been paying more attention at around the time he first became the King in Black they would already know the answer.

The Eventuality switches into his human form after looking at Earth-1048 and asks if the unknown person is from Earth-616, apologizing for trying to bait them into wasting a question and saying he should give them better answers. The Eventuality states that the answer to "What if Eddie Brock wasn't Venom?" is that Venom would be someone else doing similar things for different reasons. The Eventuality wonders if there's an Eddie Brock on Earth-1048, noting that he doesn't know since he doesn't have time to play games. Realizing he's broken the fourth wall, the Eventuality hurriedly says that he meant that metaphorically and decides to show them another reality so the unknown person gets their money's worth, but warns them that it will get kind of dark.

The King in Black explains that that reality in which the Venom Symbiote killed the Avengers was a case in which nobody at all was Venom, saying that the symbiote would jump from person to person, consuming them from the inside out until it found a host it could use to rampage. He further explains to the unknown person that there are some realities like that out there that he prefers to avoid and shudders to think about what would happen if the Venoms of those worlds made it to the Un-Beyond. He decides to move on and tells the person asking questions to ask some more so he can show him more realities.

Synopsis for "Kiss the Ring"

On Earth-1048, Venom tells Harry Osborn that they are going to heal the world, only to hear the voice of Knull congratulating it for what it's already done so far. In response to Venom's confusion, a portal opens up and he finds himself on Earth-616 during the middle of a symbiote invasion.

Venom questions what's going on, to which Knull explains that he's the creator of symbiotes and therefore Venom's father and that he requests Venom join him so they can accomplish their dreams. Venom looks around before telling Knull that from what he sees this is solely Knull's dream and has nothing to do with him, so he would prefer to go back home and accomplish his actual dream. Knull laughs at Venom for thinking he has a choice before sending a symbiote dragon after him, Venom fights the dragon and explains that while he and Knull are similar in what they are doing they are also completely different. Venom admits that he is going to take the free will of those on his Earth away, he's doing it for the altruistic reason of bettering their lives. Meanwhile, Venom believes Knull to be doing it all for himself and does not see a single sign of altruism. Knull tells Venom he has two options, to either join him or die, and Venom defiantly chooses death.

Knull prepares to strike Venom down but doesn't, Venom realizing that Knull only has power over the symbiotes of his own dimension and was just trying to scare Venom into submission. Taunting Knull, Venom wonders if killing him--a denizen from a different universe--would get the King in Black into trouble that he can't afford. Furious, Knull gets annoyed that Venom figured it out and sends him back home with no memory of the event that just took place, swearing revenge and venting his rage on the surrounding symbiote dragons.

Synopsis for "Host"

Investigating the mutilated corpse of Captain America, Bruce Banner muses that even his Hulk form isn't capable of such violence. Along with fellow Avengers Hawkeye and Black Widow, Bruce discovers that Cap went to the grave site in the Arctic as he liked going there to give himself perspective of what it's like to be a living man staring at his own grave. They watch security footage and find that the Quinjet arrived there but Cap never came out, Bruce asking Natasha what she was doing there. This sparks an argument as Natasha gets defensive, protesting that she wasn't the one who killed Steve. They calm down and decide to ask Tony, only to find him surrounded by blood oozing out of his armor. J.A.R.V.I.S. is still active, so they ask him to open the armor, Tony's mangled corpse falls on the floor in pieces--causing Hawkeye to puke. They play back the audio in the armor and find the mention of a hammer, which leads them to believe Thor is the culprit.

Bruce turns into the Hulk and they prepare to fight Thor only to find that he's been killed and mutilated as well. This confirms Bruce's suspicions that whatever occurred was pathogenic rather than physical. Hawkeye prepares to kill Bruce, accusing him of being responsible, but Bruce reminds Hawkeye of their discovery. Hawkeye is still suspicious when Black Widow blows his brains out and allows the Venom symbiote to take over her. Bruce tells her to fight it before she transfers the symbiote over to him--dying in the process. Bruce sees the origin of the symbiote, which came to Earth in a meteor and was found by Captain America in the Arctic. Bonding to him, the symbiote found him to be incompatible and consumed him from the inside out. When Black Widow investigated, it transferred to her and while searching for a more suitable host ate Iron Man and Thor as well. However, the symbiote had now found the perfect host in Banner's Hulk form, as he knows how to keep monsters under control.
