History

Rodriguez served the United States as vice president in the administration of President Ellis. His daughter, an amputee with a missing lower leg, became an avenue through which Aldrich Killian could influence him when Killian offered him a means to restore his daughter's leg with the Extremis virus. This gave Killian an agent of the highest order within the White House.

Killian's plan was to execute President Ellis, with the staged execution disguised as an act of terror at the hands of the Mandarin and the Ten Rings. Rodriguez then would assume the presidency, giving Killian control of the White House and an elevated supply of armaments in the War on Terror.

Tony Stark and Col. James Rhodes informed the Vice President on the situation (without knowing his stance), and asked for backup which never came.

Stark and Col. Rhodes foiled the plan however, and Vice President Rodriguez was subsequently arrested for conspiring with Killian.
