History

Fantastic Four House of M Vol 1 1 Textless

Fearsome Four

Instead of fighting Magneto during the Mutant-Human War, Doom offered to fight by his side. Realizing that Mutants were obviously the next step in human evolution, Doom wanted to be on the winning side of the war-and he was. Doom became King Magnus' most successful ally. Although neither of them truly trusted each other, each man respected the other's powers and abilities.[1]

After the Mutant victory over the Humans, Doom took over the nation of New Latveria. He eventually married his childhood sweetheart and love of his life; a Latverian woman named Valeria, and adopted a young Latverian child, named Kristoff.[3]

Doom found the Cosmic Rays irradiated bodies of Reed Richards, John Jameson, Benjamin Grimm and Susan Storm, all of whom died, except for Grimm, whose body was mutated while his mind was seriously damaged. Doom took him in, and treated Grimm as pet, naming him "The It". After studying Grimm's body, Doom discovered a way to empower himself, by combing the Cosmic Rays' radiation, mysticism, and technology. He then used alchemy and dark magic to give powers to Valeria and Kristoff. Together with The It they formed the Fearsome Four.[2]

With their newly acquired powers, the Fearsome Four became a strike force used by Magneto to keep other superhumans in line. It is a position Doom would prefer not to be in, but with the amount of mutants in the world, and the power Magneto has over them, it would be unwise to lash out in frustration. Especially with no concrete plan laid out for victory.[3]

The Council of Kings

Following a failed assassination attempt by the assassin Sabretooth, the King of Wakanda Black Panther called forth a Council of Kings, consisting of himself, Dictator Doom, Emperor Sunfire, Queen Storm, and Prince Namor. Black Panther stated that the assassination attempt was a sign that Magneto is trying to conquer their respected kingdoms and because of this they should unite against him, Doom however interjected stating this was motivated solely by race and thus why should he go against one of his own race; a Romani? Storm attempted to persuade him (stating that both Doom and Panther are human), but Doom departed from the Council's meeting, lastly stating to Storm's attempts, that human or mutant Doom will always stand alone.[4]

To achieve his goal and become the ruler of the world, Doom tricked King Magnus into entering another dimension, where rules of physics were weaker and magic was stronger. It allowed the Fearsome Four to defeat Magnus and his son Quicksilver. Instead of directly killing them, Doom left them in the dimension so they could wallow in misery while slowly dying from thirst and hunger. Doom with his team triumphantly returned to Genosha. He killed all scientists who built the gate to another dimension and ordered Kristoff to incinerate the gate and Valeria to kill Magnus' daughter Polaris, while he went to prepare a speech to proclaim himself the new ruler of the planet. Kristoff wanted to personally kill Polaris, so he begged Valeria to take him with her. She agreed and they then ordered The It to destroy the gate and went to kill Polaris. The It, however, after being abused and mistreated by them for years, decided to take the chance to ruin Doom's plan. He opened the gate and allowed Magnus and Quicksilver to return back. In the following battle, between families of Doom and Magnus, a large number of royal guards of Magnus' palace attacked Kristoff and Valeria. They begged Victor for help, but he was too focused on trying to kill Magnus. Doom was defeated and then discovered that both Valeria and Kristoff were killed.[5]

Magnus then brought Doom's last living relative, his mother Cynthia and threatened to kill her. But she betrayed her son and claimed that she had no knowledge about his plans to betray Magnus, despite previously encouraging Victor to do it. Magneto ordered his guards to bring her far away, somewhere where Doom would be unable to find her. He then allowed Doom to return back to Latveria. The deaths of Valeria and Kristoff and betrayal of his mother broke Victor's spirit.[5]

He apparently accepted his role as Magneto's lapdog and even attended the House of M party and posed with Magneto for pictures by the media.[6] During the attack on the House of M by the 'awakened' heroes, Doom fought against them and was seen grappling with Ms. Marvel.[7]

Doom was apparently wiped from existence when Earth-58163 was recreated on God Emperor Doom's Battleworld.[8] It is unknown if he was restored once reality was corrected
